I've been toying with this issue myself, and have gone for the throwing stars. Basically the importance of nightrunners is their manouverability - you're going to be moving them around alot which means that more often than not with slings you'll get -1 for moving - so 5's to hit, outside 9" gives you another -1 so 6's and god forbid you ty and shoot twice , the benifit of the stars is as thrown weapons there's no modifiers, so even with moving you're still hitting on 4's, downside being of course that the range is only 6".The only way to decided this one would be take both and see what the results are. The other benifit of stars is that they are 2 pts cheaper per model meaning a) more night runners in the army units aren't quite as expensive when the fail panic/terror/fear tests and run for it - never to rally hope this helps |

Yeah I say throwing stars - cos who knows how far you are going to be able to shoot with the Under the cover of Darkness rule - with throwing stars you are always going to be able to shoot! Giantrat |

Nope, throwing stars are range six. PWGs and Death Globes are 8", maybe that's where you got confused? |

Yes Throwing stars are 6" range so you will always be able to shoot so Under the cover of darkness doesn't effect the Star Flingers - so stars are my 1st choice Giantrat |

Stars a probably a better choice(POISON! POISON!) because you will proably be moving AND shooting. |

But to keep with the pure WYSIWYG rules you only have to represent the units equipment on 25% of the models so a unit of 10 NR with slings only have to have 3 sling equiped models to be WYSIWYG. However for the hardercore crowd you can easily make slings from a piece of string... just glue both ends to the rats hand, if you want you can green stuff a sling pouch on it. |
