thats what i found! though i didn't have a problem with his skinks only his saurus. also we just got a new guy that has been playing brettonian calvery and it been pissing me off! Being plague monk I need to get that first attack in, not to mention that unbalivable armor save they have. and why the hell does the horse get to attack! what does it do? crap on you??

Stand in front of a charging horse and email us from the hospital/morgue to let us know how it was.

You've never ridden a horse, have you? *grins*

Well, that aside it can take some time getting used to fighting bretonnians, but once you've adjusted tactics it might get easier.

Never, EVER have any combat worthy units in the front when fighting brets. You need to build your army deep, and not wide. The reason? Nothing but swarms or unbelievable luck stands up to a bret charge, so you need to go about things differently than having units to your side that is ready for the flank charge.

One thing that usually works is to try to set up your units like this:

(S=Slaves F=fighting block (plaguemonks, clanrats, stormvermin))

...........................S...............S.............S.................

.....................................F...............F.......................
...................F................................................F........

The trick is to get the brets to charge the slaves. They cost nothing, and they will kill them. If they overrun it is important that they should NOT end up hitting one of your fighting regiments. Brets have a narrow frontage, so it shouldn't be too hard. Even if they hold, you should be close enough to do your own charge next turn. The trick is, since brets have a narrow frontage and VERY deep formations, they usually just can't pursue through your lines if you have them deep enough. Just suck them in, then charge them.

Because a bret is a very sad sight when he is charged *evil laugh*

The fighting blocks on the edges should be far enough behind the slaves so that they won't be charged. If the brets approach that close, then the slaves should be in charge range from them.

It takes a bit of timing to get the distances right, but once it's done it is a very tough formation for thde bret player to deal with. Add a few ratling guns, poison wind globardiers and... mmmm yummy.

Lizardmen on the other hand *groans*

What I always have problem with there is not the magic. It's nasty but survivable. It is the HUGE bulldozer block of templeguard with a 4:th generation Slann with a wardsave and the plague that causes fear. There is NOTHING that can get those stubborn cold blooded things to run, and the unit is worth so many victory points I can only get a draw at most without it. They are so numerous that shooting doesn't matter that much, and with jungle swarms, skinks and sauruses on the sides, it is very backed up in combat.

I just... *groans* I'd rather go head to head with chaos on a bridge in a capture scnario (very nasty that was...)
I am currently writing an epic Dragon Age 2 adventure that can be found HERE!! or on my deviantart.

not hardest to win, but frustratingly... frustrating.

possibly orcs and goblins. the greenskins have a 2-point cost too, have much the same stat line, and a battlefield crammed full of units which look identical do not provide for much excitement.
