Grey Seer Verminous Fang was awakened by a soft scuttling noise in the tunnel. Without lifting his head, he clutched a dagger and gathered the winds of magic about him, preparing to defend himself from some ambitious new-comer or perhaps an assassin sent by a rival. A soft yet urgent whisper came from the shadows. "Honored Seer, complications at the tunnel. COme quick-quick!" Now quite angry, especially with yesterday's explosion fresh in his mind, the Grey Seer rose and stalked out of the small depression in which he slept. He considered killing the clanrat that had awakened him, but feared that would mean that he'd get no more updates, good or bad. Instead, he glared at the young rat, memorizing everything about him, and began thinking of plans for vengeance.

Verminous Fang immediately noticed that the tunnelers were no longer digging. He then noticed the large hole. The tunnelers had broken through to a new tunnel system, one that the Skaven Engineers had no knowledge of. The seer pointed a bony finger in the directionof a shadow, and hissed, "It is time for Clan Eshin to act! Quick-quick, what is this place?" Shadows separated from the greater darkness, and five eshin gutter runners darted through the hole, nearly invisible despite the light from the nearby tunnel machines. It wasn't long before everyone knew what had happened. A loud noise eminated from the tunnel mouth, the sound of a hundred voices joined as one in a savage cry of fury. The Skaven expedition had run into a Night Goblin tunnel. Verminous Fang cried out to his forces, and clanrats quickly formed up, pushing their smaller brethren and refugees from Zundap into line. The Eshin Night runners jumped quickly and silently through the mouth of the tunnel as the members from Clan Moulder cracked their whips and herded their giant rats into position. The Skryre adepts tugged warpfire throwers and prepared to sere the flesh from goblin bones as the engineers cranked on dials to ensure that they could properly focus the raw power of chaos at their enemies. As the plague monks and their fanatical censor swinging brethren moved into position, the fungus lining the tunnel revealed the enemy in all its hideous glory. Night Goblins were swinging nets, preparing to strike out against any foe. The foul creatures had managed to convince wolves to descend into the darkness, as wolf riders and chariots began circling. Many smaller shapes gathered together, snotlings, swarming up from the very earth itself. Verminous Fang fought the urge to squirt the musk of fear as a large shape lumbered into view. A giant! It seems that the goblins were prepared to defend their subterrainean home to the death, and the uneasy truce they had shared in the past would not be in effect this day.

Taking advantage of Verminous Fang's hesitation, the goblins surged forward, though the wolf riders simply fought amongst themselves. A great test of wills began, unseen by the majority of the combatants, as wizards on both sides seized control of the winds of magic and threw them at their respective enemies. Verminous Fang laughed with contempt as the Night Goblin Shaman failed to hold onto the winds correctly and began to bounce around, his hair alight with lightnings and the smell of singed goblin filling the tunnel. Warplightning issued forth from Skritch and Ris'ckit, and the giant bellowed in pain as the raw energies of magic engulfed him. The Night runners closed with the goblins, but before they could get in close enough to fight, the goblins released whirling devils through their formation, killing two thirds of the unit. The destruction of so many of their comrades shocked the young assassins, who fled back through the tunnel. One of the warpfire throwers took the opportunity to take vengeance on the whirling fanatics by incinerating them. The Moulder Rats plowed into the goblin line, eager for blood. Even though the were able to ensnare some of the rats in their nets, the goblins were unable to hold out against the vicious assault and fled.

In the center of the cave, slaves fought with snotling, a pathetic excuse for a battle if ever there was one. The pestilens censor bearers charged in, desperate to cause mayhem. It's a shame that so many of them fell to their own poisons. The gutter runners that had taken off to investigate the tunnel emerged from the darkness and caused havoc behind the enemy's lines, destroying a supply cart and killing off it's crew. The wolf riders found themselves attacked in the flank by more night runners and were close to fleeing, but a blast from the musician's horn brought new life to the unit, and the night runners were forced to flee back to the safety of the darkness. Verminous Fang spread is arms and called out to the multitude of vermin within the cave and sent them forth towards the night goblins, but the vermin dispersed after feeding on the Grey Seer's own giant rats as they themselves ate a now defenseless great shaman. The giant, still lumbering forward and showing signs of a knowing respect of the plague monks, again found himself the center of a storm of warplightning, this time succumbing to its effects.

The wolfriders let loose a howl and charged into a unit of clanrats, unfazed as the grey seer's personal standard bearer, Vinshqueek, unfurled the Sacred Standard of the Horned Rat. And though the goblins were unaffected, the clanrats themselves swelled with pride and showed their teeth, chanting out their praises to the Horned Rat. After a brief clash with the invigorated clanrats, the wolfriders rethought their position and fled the battle field, leaving only a few straggling night goblins on the field of battle.

The Grey Seer surveyed the carnage, lost in thoughts of glee at the destruction wrought, before he brought himself out of his reverie with a jolt and bellowed forth, "Back-back to work! We need to be in postion soon-soon!" The soft humming of the Skryre tunneling machines soon filled the tunnel, and clanrats posted themselves on guard without orders. Yes, thought Verminous Fang, we might yet succeed!

The snot/slave battle? Well, the PCBs were involved (rolled 1 six first turn, 2 the next, then 3, accoubnting for all six PCBs :D ), but the slaves eventually won (still over half strength).

Oh, and in case it wasn't obvious, I won the battle. :D #gs#
