Well I finally got the chance to play a game with my Skaven horde. It was 2000 points and I had to use every single model I owned and oufit them with all the extras (champions, smoke bombs, spears, etc) just to reach the point total. It was the Screaming Bell that won the game for me! First turn rolled a 13! HA HA HA. Half of my opponents army fled the table before he even had a turn. Wiped his entire army out by turn 5! Don't have time to go into details right now (I am at work) but will post them soon. |

Go forth my brethren, that we shall nibble at the roots of the old world! We are the rats in the shadows. We hold the blades of corruption, aimed at the very heart of the Old World. We are The Council of Thirteen. Second place in the UnderEmpire painting competition! | |

Here is a narrative of the battle... Grey Seer Raticus sneered at the pitiful Orc and Goblin horde from atop his Screaming Bell. “Faster!” he bellowed, as his 20 faithful Clanrats pushed with all their might. “Forward!” Raticus screamed to his army. On his left 2 groups of swarming rats, and a very nervous warp fire thrower team advanced towards the greenskins. On his right his not so trusted group of 20 Clanrats containing the sly Assassin and the crazed 23 Plague Monks led by their Plague Priest, and screened by the even more vile 8 censer bearers, ran forward at full speed. The Warlock Engineer and his 2 globadiers controlled the far right side of the battlefield, and moved into better positions. The winds of magic were fickle as very few greenskins fell from the deadly warp lightning. Many spells were countered by the sneaky greenskin shamans. And the warlock engineer suffered a wound after noticing his Warp Blades were not grounded properly. BOOOOONNNNGGGGGG! The Screaming Bell sent out such a terrible noise that all the greenskin units stopped in their tracks. So terrible was the ringing of the bell that Grey Seer Raticus suffered a minor wound himself. Suddenly greenskin units started running away! Half of their army was running the other direction! A unit of squigs freaked out and started hopping all over the battlefield, killing anything they came near. Raticus yelled at his Jezzail teams (3 on the left and 4 on the right) to target the main greenskin unit. The team must not have heard, because no night goblins seemed to fall after the firing of the Jezzails. “See how our enemies flee before us! Faster! Faster! Kill – Kill!” screamed Raticus as he balanced himself on the bell. Raticus sent the swarming rats towards the nearest Night Goblin unit. “Let the greenskins waste their deadly fanatics on my swarm!” But alas, no chained death emerged from the unit. Now we are in position to charge next turn! Suddenly a unit of Orcs broke out in boils and blisters, and a few seemed to fall from the Plague being inflicted upon them. But the surrounding units did not appear to suffer the same fate. Warplighting flashed across the battle field killing greenskins left and right. Suddenly three Plague Monks were skewered with a single spear. A few greenskins fell from the Jezzail fire, as arrows fell among the Warlock engineer and globadiers. Luckily, none found their target. A clumsy globadier dropped his fragile container of warp gas, and became a casualty of war. All of a sudden the Screaming Bell jolted dangerously to the right as a powerful explosion ripped through the Clanrats killing 3. “No wonder that warp-fire crew looked so nervous.” Thought raticus as he climbed back on top of the bell’s platform. BAAAANNNG! Rang the bell. Inspiring the Clanrats into certain stubbornness. Raticus slipped from the platform as the bell rang, striking his head on the carriage. Blood began to poor from the wound, but within seconds seemed to heal itself and disappear. “This Twisted Crown works wonders.” whispered the Grey Seer. “Charge!” yelled Raticus to all his troops. The ridiculously outnumbered Censer bearers crashed into the mighty goblin unit. The censers could not possibly win the fight, but they managed to stand their ground. The swarming rats along with the other clan rat unit smashed into another night goblin horde. The Assassin snuck out and managed to kill the goblin general in one fatal attack. The general’s pet squig went beserk and killed 2 Clanrats. The Night Goblins ran when their general fell, only to be cut down by the swarming rats. The Clanrats could not make chase, because the pet squig seemed to be unbreakable, and was tearing up Clanrats left and right. The panicking night goblins caused the other goblin unit to panic and flee the battle field. The Black Orcs charged into the swarming rats and wiped them out. A great flash, and a few sparks were all that was seen from the top of the bell when the Warlock engineer’s warp blades came into contact with his metal warp energy condensers. Raticus suffered a burn from the warp-lightning he cast down upon the now weakening greenskin horde. The Assassin felt the power of the Great Horned One himself as he muttered the prayers to double his strength. BOOONG! Rang the bell, which caused the goblin bolt thrower to crumble to pieces, but just before it crumbled the crew managed to skewer 2 more Plague Monks. The Jezzails moved forward into a better firing position. The last remaining globadier became riddled with orc arrows and fell to the ground. The Assassin sliced the mad squig in half and the Clanrats began preparing for a final charge into the Black Orcs. Suddenly the Black Orcs turned a pale shade of green and began falling where they stood. The Plague seemed to spread to the nearest Orc unit and both units were reduced to half strength in a matter of seconds. Suddenly warp-lightning lit up the battlefield. One unit of Orc arrer boys was completely decimated, and the remaining Orc troops seeing all the destruction gave up the battle and ran away. |
