Pre-turn shooting doesn't cause panic tests.

I'm 95% certain of this.
Go forth my brethren, that we shall nibble at the roots of the old world!

i like putting my warlock with big units of pwg's or nr's. they're harder to shoot because of skirmishing and maneuverable enough to stay out of charge arcs.

If the shooting from the Sea Patrol suffers no negative modifiers, is it still affected by range? (i.e. do they have to be within range?). And what happens against an Eshin army with the UCoD rule in play? Would those "dastardly elves" have to roll to see if they could see the Skaven?

The shooting from the Sea patrol is not affected by anything. Range, line of sight, targeting rules, to hit modifiers. Nothing helps.

And Under Cover of Darkness does not protect you either. Firstly, range and line of sight rules do not apply. Secondly, you only roll for UCoD at the start of the first turn. The Master of Mists shooting occurs before the start of the first turn.

In other words, your Triads are dead meat.

They gnaw their way through New York, London and Tokyo... within 5 million years, a whole range of new species replace the ones we know. Herds of giant grazing rats are stalked by sabre-toothed predatory rats. Given enough time, will a species of intelligent, cultivated rats emerge?"

The Ironclaw Warlord
Legate of Clan Likten
Yay Phord!

I do the same thing with one of my two Warlocks (when I field my Grey Seer's army, seperate from my Warlord's army) who has the entire PWG regiment painted in his colours. Then give him Death Globes so he can play with his pals in the shooting phase.

The other I have running interference, but he typically hides behind the ratling gun I have defending my one of the flank-holes in my chosen infantry formation. ^^

Grey Seer
yes, i too find it ideal to put a warlock with skirmisher, this provides the ultimate protection for him.
That pesky warmachine keeping you down, or is that combat monster destroying your army? NEVER FEAR... ESHIN IS HERE
