Is it just me or is it the general oppinion that Clan Moulder is the weakest of the four clans..? I love their fluff, the fact that they are most disturbing and aligned with chaos. But I must say since the Rat Ogres are so (I'm sorry about this one) crappy, moulder does'nt have anything to compete with, say, warlock engineer, jezzails or warplighting cannon. Is it so that GW have "forgotten" a little about moulder or is it just me... What can be done about the weakness? And I don't mean complaining at GW, I mean what have YOU (as the great mutators you are) done about (as I see it) the lack of strength in moulder lists? |

Yes, i would agree, in the fluff that we are given about the 4 clans, mmoulder seems to be the second richest, and has the second most influence (to skyre in both occasions. Unlike this though, in the army list, they lack the power of the other clans... ie... Plague Priest and monks and PCB can destry most things in the game. That pesky warmachine keeping you down, or is that combat monster destroying your army? NEVER FEAR... ESHIN IS HERE WAnt to sit back and blow holes in your enemies army? (And sometimes your own) Then SKYRE is the one for you! Want to be utterly useless and sell somewhat useful things to chaos but not your own Skaven bretheren? Then Moulder is the Clan for you.

Maybe you're right, but Moulder does have one of the last 'legal' special chars left. Not many people play with those, but still it's an honor. And just as with other armies, the beast are there for support mostly. Hounds.. wolves.. giant rats/rat ogres. It fits the picture I think. Besides.. 'suppose' Moulder was the strongest clan (rat-wyvern anyone? Rat-Dragons for all I care), we'd be having this discussion about Ehsin?? or Pestilence?? Therefor I wouldn't want to call it 'the worst of the 4', but 'the best of the other zillion' clans out there. I like Moulder the way it is |

I could go for a rat dragon. With a little warpfire and a side of coleslaw. Yes, the big problem is that GW could only come up with 2 rare units. A rare moulder unit could have added some variety to the list options, and made the moulder side look stronger. |

Oh i totally agree, about the "if it were the strongest clan..." But i am merely saying that as it stands now, moulder is the weakest of the 4 clans in terms of what they can field. |

Yes I must damit Throt is a great looking model and I will be using it as my Master Moulder but not as Throt.. Yes support for other units. But I'm talking a Clan Moulder Army, you can't only have support units.. (Don't get me wrong, I love Giant Rat Packs as support, but that's all).
I don't mean in fluff. I don't mean influence in skaven politics.. That's just fine with me. What I do mean is that they lack any power on the battlefield. This topic was'nt about fluff (sorry if I made it unclear on my first post). It's about the fact that Rat Ogres aren't that great in 6th edition and that all other moulder units are support units. My question was more like have anyone ever succesfully fielded a Clan Moulder army on the battlefield? If so, how, which special tactics do you have to use? |

Clan Moulder is not a weak clan, Rat-Ogre's are very strong, and giant rats are super cheap, and excellent at flanking/holding up enemies etc, along with a couple of kick-ass heroes, the Master Moulder, with access to magic items that can send thier unit into frothing-at-the-mouth blood addicts, or Weapons that kill with the merest touch. Moulder just arent in the spotlight as much, when the GW designers were planning what to give skaven for the SoC campaign they were either going to use Eshin or Moulder (they had an article in the australian article saying Throt sides with Archaon) But Moulder is still strong. I just like Eshin Better ![]() --- Adept --- |

I will agree with some of this, but in no way shape or form are rat ogres worth taking. |

i did field a all moulder army and it worked just fine... you get a LOT of models and some stronger support units... the combo of rat ogres and giant rats is just very good, giant rats for the rank bonus and rat ogres for the kills The only thing they lack is variety, i hope there will come out a Moulder rare choice |

I was kinda gutted when they had fluff in the UK White Dwarf about Throt joining Archaon. I mean, they talked about Daemon/Rat ogre crossbreeds, and a giant tunnelling rat-beast, which was then sold to Eshin. And what do we get? NOTHING!!! The only army that benefits is Chaos with their flippin' Flayerkin!!! THINK OF THE SKAVEN!!!!!!!!! There, glad I got that out of my system. |

Yes, with the amount of units that the other 3 clans can field now, moulder deserves a new unit(maybe pestilence to). Because as you said, when you look at a moulder army on the table, there is pretty much just 2 units.

if you count in the swarms as a Moulder unit you have 3.. I think they should include some beast thingie with some packmasters and it's up to a mutation chart to define the stats. It would be something random, but fun to play think. Like a rat spawn. Maybe it's not good for wysiwig, so maybe they should let some options open to buy upgrades on it. like extra Arm, Extra head, scaly skin, breath weapon, ... The model should be something of a big monster, like the warhydra of the DE but with a rat look on it. just a thought |

I agree with the above post they should have done a generic profile for a rat beast which you could buy upgrades for. They didnt even need to release a model for it. I vote we create one! Perhaps try a chaos spawns stats to start with and create modifications such as wings. We could use teh rat ogre mutations list (from pitfighting) to help. What do you think of my idea? |
