In a recent game, my assasin armed with warpstone stars, ran circles around a unit of dragon ogres. The unit started with six. By the end of the game there was only one dragon ogre left. (and it was wounded) Gotta love that D3 wounds. :D

You can equip your assassin with bands of power and the warpstone amulet. This gives him 4 St8 attacks that are very useful against heavily armoured opponents such as a Chaos Champion or Lord. If you hide him in a unit of gutter runners, then he will always strike first.

The Warpstone Amulet gives him some chance of survival if he does not kill his opponent.

well, it depends, stars if he is going to be skitterleaped, weeping blades vs characters, and finally the gouger/BoP against just rank and file of knights.
That pesky warmachine keeping you down, or is that combat monster destroying your army? NEVER FEAR... ESHIN IS HERE

(Mostly) Overatted.

Apologies if this may appear somewhat inscrutable & Zen, but Morgrat & I teamed up at a doubles tournament recently where we each ran a 1200pt force, & we learned very quickly there that Skitterleap + Smoke Bombs are an incomparable combination.

We ran 3 Ratssassins + 3 Sorcerats between us, and it was in Round 3 that our tacteeks just clicked. We played a Skaven + Beastman alliance in that game, and at the end of it we were left with just 3 Sorcerats & 2 Ratssassins on the table & we had only taken out a single formed unit (3 Ogres).

But because we'd managed to take out every single enemy Character, what visually appeared to be a massive loss by us turned out to be a very close draw (about 40vp's difference).

In one stunning sequence starting at the bottom of Turn 4, Morgy Skitterleaped an Assassin armed with Bands of Power + Warpstone Amulet into combat with an Engineer hiding in a Clanrat regiment. He killed the Charatter but (predictably) lost combat on resolution factors, & then rolled double 1 for his Leadership test & stayed put. He then killed a few Clanrats, lost combat & broke but was saved from pursuit by Smoke Bombs.

In our next turn (the 5th), the Ratssassin rallied & was Skitterleaped into yet another Clanrat regiment where he followed exactly the same sequence (killed Engineer/ rolled snake eyes for Ld test/ killed some rabble but fled following turn under cover of Smoke Bombs/ ralled).

It was these brilliant moves by 'Ja-Bu the Hit' which snatched a draw out of the jaws of certain defeat for the Eka.

So always choose Skitterleap + Smoke Bombs, fellow Eshin!

give the assassin weeping blades. Every unsaved wound multiplied into D3 wounds
I've decided to live forever or die in the attempt

Important questions here...
1) If an Assassin takes a magic weapon, does he get +1 attack for two weapons (think not, but just checking)

2) If an Assassin takes a magic weapon, does he still have poisoned attacks from his other hand weapon?
The Skaven language is the only one to include 32 words for "friendly fire" and none for "reliability"

Ok so if you have an assasin you can't give them the black blade..... that's a shame

To answer Nightlord's questions, no to both questions.

Go forth my brethren, that we shall nibble at the roots of the old world!

We are the rats in the shadows. We hold the blades of corruption, aimed at the very heart of the Old World. We are The Council of Thirteen.

Second place in the UnderEmpire painting competition!
