I was just wondering, has anyone ever used this monstrosity? And how did he play on the battlefield?Looks a very imposing model, like a cross between a keeper of secrets and a rat ogre. |

I don't like the model much; too skinny and he has goat feet! Used proxies a long time ago.. when I did use it sometimes (There were cardboard characters back then.. I think they were official too).. and it kicked asssss. He was a kick-ass wizard and an even better fighter with siiiick stats (nothing but 8's and 10's). I remember he could deal a potential 24 wounds (ws8 str8 attacks with something similar to a weeping blade.. but bigggerrrr) in ONE combat round  And oh yeah; it was expensive!!!! <_< (600 points.. but it soo should have cost 666 points with his goat feet and the pointy horns) I cant remember winning with it once, when I fielded the Vermin Lord(s). Other chars were much bigger back then too.. and it costed just too much points and couldn't go 'flying high' (like many other chars could). And you needed another char as general too.. etc etc.. too darn expensive really. Or maybe I just sucked as a general

Have used in RH a few times... back then it was a kicker! For a mere 475 pts you had a (better) warlord and grey seer in one. Had battles from which my opponent send in everything they could and he fought against units on his own winning his own points back. Nowadays it's a bit more expensive model... although many people will know its strengths: -Ld9 general -every Skaven within 6" of him is hard to break away But he has his downs: -high point cost + slots -can not join units -large target -very missile magnet Still very nice, but will propably be the first target for your opponent's missile fire. Vermin lord is US6... let HIM flank a unit! He is terror-causing and cc monster... that would be more fun! Greetz |

I once had the Vermin lord win a game for me when he cast Skitterleap on himself and then when he was able to charge, killed a 4th level Slann general. That single action alone allowed me to win the game and my opponent was pretty furious. That was about the last time I ever used him. In a sense Im glad they removed him from the list. Im not sure he was ever really necessary. On the other hand, loosing a unit, regardless of what, always sucks. The Mad Ratter

i used them (i have two) occassionally in 5th and they were absolute destroyers. essentially they were practically bloodthirsters with grey seer abilities. skitterleap in 5th was like the eshin version now (can engage in cc) and my opponents quivered when i drew its spells. the two of them were only fielded together twice, one of which was a 5k point battle against nagash and his cadre of vampire lords. that was truly an epic battle. |

the other? I dont like uber chars(grey seers are fine). reason being that the game turns into a "kill the Bloofthirster" game, and is no longer fun |

That's what most people thought after a time when 5th rules were still in effect; it wasn't army vs army, but special chars vs special chars. |

exactly, thus the term herohammer. plus on the economic side, it's cheaper to field 1000 points of characters and 1000 of regiments, and in 5th there were even fewer plastics than there are now. |

i think he was talking about the 5th edition, and it was possible then because it had to be a character and a Verminlord was a character.. i used him a few times in 5th and he always won me the battle except one time he was turned into a frog by Morgana la fay... i'm glad they don't have a picture of my face on that moment |
