Nintendo Power has released volume 256 which has Sonic Colors on the cover. The article includes an interview with Sonic Brand Manager Takashi and the first screenshots from the game. Here are some of the stuff I found interesting in the article, and you can see a few of the screens by using the link below. -As mentioned before, the game takes place at Eggman's new amusement park in space, spread out across many planets. -You can only have 1 wisp at a time, each one gives Sonic a new ability, but it only lasts a short time. A gauge tells you how long the wisp has till it dissappears. -Only the 2 wisps that were mentioned in the press release were avaliable to play in the build that NP used, expect 7-8 of them, including a rocket wisp. -Motion controls in Wii version are only used for color powers. -70% of the Wii game will be in 2.5D, those sections will focus on platforming skills. The 3D sections is all about speed. -Multiple paths in levels can be discovered if you use wisps in the right places. -Using yellow wisps to drill can yield items like 1-ups, or rings. -There are emblems to collect in game. -Make sure your not underground when the yellow wisps timer expires! -Realism is not a focus of the level designs, so expect a more crazy look for the levels. -World Map in use, unknown if there will be hub worlds. -2 Worlds named so far, Tropical Resort Zone and Sweet Mountain Zone (that one is full of.. food) -Some zones have gimmicks that can only be found in those areas, like a jellybean rocket. -The DS edition is basically Sonic Rush 3, it plays very close to that series of games. -There are 2 wisps you can only find in the DS edition, including a fireball wisp. -The Wii edition is being directed by Morio Kishimoto, who worked the Storybook series of games. The DS edition being developed by Dimps is led by Takao Hirabayashi, who was the lead planner of Sonic Unleashed. The of both editions staff is made up of those mostly those that worked Unleashed and Black Knight.
