| Welcome to The TV Shelter. We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible. However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique. And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums. And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried. We hope you enjoy your visit. |

I will neither mourn nor celebrate her death. She is dead, and that is that. I do not, however, agree with the quasi-state funeral that she will get. It should have been a small private service, attended by her family, friends, other members of her party, of the current government and also the opposition. Edited by cosmo, Apr 8 2013, 05:38 PM.

Margaret Thatcher dead: Morrissey blasts former PM as "barbaric" just hours after her death 8 Apr 2013 19:36 Source: mirror.co.uk The musician has been a long-time critic of the former Prime Minister and aired his views in songs like Margaret On The Guillotine The musician has been a long-time critic of the former Prime Minister and aired his views in songs like Margaret On The Guillotine. Tonight, just hours after her death, he released a strongly-worded statement slamming the former Tory politician. The former Smiths singer said: "Thatcher is remembered as The Iron Lady only because she possessed completely negative traits such as persistent stubbornness and a determined refusal to listen to others. "Every move she made was charged by negativity; she destroyed the British manufacturing industry, she hated the miners, she hated the arts, she hated the Irish Freedom Fighters and allowed them to die, she hated the English poor and did nothing at all to help them, she hated Greenpeace and environmental protectionists, she was the only European political leader who opposed a ban on the Ivory Trade, she had no wit and no warmth and even her own Cabinet booted her out." Morrissey, whose first Smiths single Hand In Glove was released a month before Baroness Thatcher won her second term of office as Prime Minister in 1983, was highly critical of her role in the Falklands War. He said: "She gave the order to blow up The Belgrano even though it was outside of the Malvinas Exclusion Zone - and was sailing AWAY from the islands. "When the young Argentinian boys aboard The Belgrano had suffered a most appalling and unjust death, Thatcher gave the thumbs up sign for the British press. Iron? No. Barbaric? Yes. "She hated feminists even though it was largely due to the progression of the women's movement that the British people allowed themselves to accept that a Prime Minister could actually be female. "But because of Thatcher, there will never again be another woman in power in British politics, and rather than opening that particular door for other women, she closed it. Outspoken Morrissey, who recently cancelled a series of shows due to ill health, went on: "Thatcher will only be fondly remembered by sentimentalists who did not suffer under her leadership, but the majority of British working people have forgotten her already, and the people of Argentina will be celebrating her death. "As a matter of recorded fact, Thatcher was a terror without an atom of humanity," he added. |

Not a shock to see some songs about her in the I-Tunes Chart, I see over at Facebook a group has started called "Let's get a song about Maggie to No1" http://www.facebook.com/groups/262435873893147/members/ It let's FB Members help pick or add a Anti-Maggie song to try & make it into the chart like the Anti-X-Factor Group a few years back. |

I think Morrissey has hit the nail on the head here. I, for one, will be toasting her death tonight. Having grown up in the North West in the 1980s, and seeing the devastating effects her policies had on the area and the people, I loathed the old witch with a passion, as did many, many people. Good riddance to her. May she rot in hell. |
