Welcome to The TV Shelter.

We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible.

However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique.

And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums.

And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried.

We hope you enjoy your visit.

Hi, all.

This new thread is to discuss rugby on TV, whether it happens to be the Six Nations, the Four Nations, Super League, the Tri-Nations, the Heineken Cup or other coverage. To begin, let's talk about the current Autumn internationals which began today.

I watched both Wales Vs. Australia and Ireland Vs. South Africa this afternoon on the BBC, and although both Northern Hemisphere teams lost, they certainly gave the Wallabies and the Springboks a run for their money. The final scores were as follows....

Wales - 16, Australia - 25
Ireland - 21, South Africa - 23

I didn't get to see England Vs. New Zealand, so does anyone know how that game progressed?

I don't know if Scotland played yesterday, but according to the official Scottish Rugby website, they're due to play New Zealand this coming Saturday at Murrayfield.

Earlier on today, Wales played South Africa in the Autumn internationals, and even though the Welsh were dominant in the first half over somewhat lacklustre opponents, the Springboks found their way back in the remaining forty or so minutes. My argument that South Africa scored both their tries due to oversights on the part of referee Steve Walsh will probably be disputed, but it was an excellent game nonetheless.
Final score... Wales - 25, South Africa - 29

Up at Murrayfield, it isn't looking at all good for Scotland, for New Zealand are unfortunately tearing them to shreds.
Current score with ten minutes left... Scotland - 3, New Zealand - 42

Can anyone shed any light on the results of England Vs. Australia or Ireland Vs. Samoa?

Thanks, Picasso. :D

Incidentally, the final score at Murrayfield was Scotland - 3, New Zealand - 49. However, congratulations to both England and Ireland for their wins today.

Continuing the discussion regarding the Autumn internationals, Wales weren't as good as in their previous two games when they faced Fiji last night. A rather lacklustre performance from the Welsh boys against the tough Islanders, with the final score being 16 points all.

Scotland and England fared better in their games against South Africa and Samoa, with the results being Scotland - 21/South Africa - 17 and England - 26/Samoa - 13. Unfortunately, however, Ireland suffered at the hands of New Zealand, the final score being 38-18 in favour of the All Blacks.

In just a few minutes, this year's Six Nations championship kicks off at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff, as Wales begin their campaign against England. Tomorrow, Italy take on Ireland at the Stadio Familio, and then France take on Scotland at the Stade De France.

Who will win either the tournament or the grand slam?

England may have won yesterday in Cardiff, Picasso, but you have to admit that the Welsh certainly gave them a very good game.

A short time ago, the game between Ireland and Italy finished in Rome. It seemed for a couple of minutes that the Italians were going to finally beat the Irish boys at home after a hard fought try, but a successful drop goal by Ronan O'Gara dashed all hopes.

Final score : Ireland - 13, Italy - 11

Italy play England next week at Twickenham, and on the evidence of their performance today, I can see the Italians giving the English a very physical game indeed.

To keep you updated, the result from Paris yesterday was....

France - 34, Scotland - 21

However, the score doesn't really reflect the game, for although the French drew first blood with a try in the first five minutes or so, the Scotsmen kept coming back at them and they played very well.

Earlier this afternoon, I was expecting Italy to give England a hard fought game, but the Italians seemed pale in comparison to their performance last week against Ireland, allowing the English boys to dominate them fairly easily.

Final score : England - 59, Italy - 13

Presently, Wales are having the better run of play against Scotland at Murrayfield, despite both Bradley Davies and Lee Byrne spending time in the sin bin during the first half.

Current score : Scotland - 3, Wales - 16

I saw the highlights (tries/conversions) earlier on and England were all over the Italians and deserved their 59-13 victory.
