Welcome to The TV Shelter.

We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible.

However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique.

And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums.

And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried.

We hope you enjoy your visit.

i discovered this site around May 2005 and i have been a frequent visitor to the website, but haven't been on it a lot. some good video links for old ads are present.

sadly, the original branch in Kirkcaldy was one of the many branches that Woolies shut in the early 80s and it is only been in the last decade, that a new branch has opened in The Mercat (the town's bigger of two shopping centres). because of this, the only branches of Woolworths that i went to on a regular basis when i was young was in Perth and occassionally neighbouring Glenrothes (where i bought the video of Disney's Peter Pan which still lies in the house).

I found that website a couple of years back but lost the link shortly after. Under the Music & Video section there was a page for "The Video Collection", but when I tried to watch the original trailer I was told that I needed a file called Cinepak, which was impossible to download! So where do I find the clip.

This is a great site, marksplace. The Woolworths store in Worcester was virtually gutted in a serious fire which was caused by arson in October 1979. This was just after the store had been refurbished. Needless to say it was closed for several weeks. Woolworths has just relocated in High Street and the old store is now used by Marks and Spencer (a new larger store for M & S.) Woolies and M & S in Worcester were next door to each other for many years.

I was in Stourbridge, West Midlands (7 or 8 years now) and their woolies logo
was an old retro one.
No idea if it's been replaced or not.
