Welcome to The TV Shelter.

We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible.

However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique.

And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums.

And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried.

We hope you enjoy your visit.

They're actually celebrating it! I'm so shocked, because when they turned 20, they did nothing. Even the BBC were better, as they spoke with Phil Redmond about Brookside on Newsnight.

I've noticed today, that they're using old idents (revamped in widescreen), programme slides, and links.

they are this time around, but it's really More4 that's been behind this with a selection of their old (and often less seen) programmes starting with the first ever episode of Countdown (repeated today again for the third ever repeat) including The Wonder Years (which i caught the episode for, considering it won't come out on DVD until the music rights are sorted, they probably never will, but it was an episode from the second series, i remember them showing it on Sunday Mornings alongside The Monkeys and Planet of the Apes)

all of they are bothering to show on CH4 today is this big fat quiz apparently.

i'll look out for the old idents if i see one on the channel

It's nice to see Channel 4 going old school with their presentation. I've got of this TV gold by recording footage from the end credits of The Simpsons to the main ident before Hollyoaks with Marcus Bentley announcing. I used a pre recorded tape of Buffy The Vampire Slayer that hasn't been touched for over 5 years so I don't think anyone else would mind. :)

I's great to see the original channel 4 idents on tv again. I think channel 4 should bring them back, they don't look out of place.

I recorded the Paul O'Grady Show today and have uploaded the first ten minutes. They show some clips of tv programmes that was on channel 4.

You will see the great channel 4 ident as well. :)

I caught a channel four junction earlier whilst on my break at work... I was surprised that the pres was so 1980s and indeed that they have brought back the original 4 ident - nice that they can still be nostalgic even though they're not shoing many birthday type programmes.

That's true, and it has been quite lack lustre. The programme they showed last Saturday night was only interesting for about 40 minutes. They didn't mention that Channel Four is no longer an alternative. It's just like the other stations nowadays.

I watched the big fat quiz anninverary last night and found it interesting going back through certain moments of Channel 4. They even had Alan Carr and Jack Dee inside the crystal dome!

I am noticing that some idents have been over repeated but I saw two variations of the breakbumper with the american football 4 and two 4s bowing down as if they're going on a showdown.
