| Welcome to The TV Shelter. We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible. However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique. And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums. And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried. We hope you enjoy your visit. |

I've been reading on Digital Spy and it says Nicholas Lyndhurst wants Only Fools and Horses to come back. Here's the source: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/a75468/lynd...and-horses.html I am a big fan of the show but I think the cast are too old to play. What do you think? |

I think OFAH had their days back then. I would concur that the cast are too old to play so I think we should give it a rest for now. |

Like a lot of other people I felt they had found the perfect ending for it and then ruined it with a lot of unnecessary specials. And apart from that I would also agree that the cast are too old (or too dead) for it to be credible. |

Please don't bring back Only Fools And Horses. I think it's well past its sell-by date and shouldn't return - my god it's bad enough seeing the repeats of it. Let it rest. The same goes for Last Of The Summer Wine - now that is embarrassingly terrible. OK it was good in the early days and should have run for about five years - this current series brings this limp excuse for comedy up to 34 years! As with Only Fools... take it off and never come back. |

NO! Please don't bring it back. I felt that when they came into money, it was the right time to end the show but they brought it back for three rather embarrassing specials that were anything but. It was great in its' day but leave it alone now. |

I'm with Mr Asparagus on this one. It was allowed to drag out for far too long, and went out with a whimper rather than a bang. That might be a good reason in Nicholas Lyndhurst's eyes to have another go, but I reckon it's best left alone. |

No! It should have finished in February 1991 (i.e. when the last regular season (S7) finished)! |

I can't honestly see it coming back anyway as David Jason has signed a 3 year Golden Handcuffs deal with ITV recently. I personally think it should have been left as it was when it ended in 1996. |

OFAH only managed to get through the mid-80s because of the brothers' romances OFAH should have finished in 1996, where the running gag of "one day we should become millionaires" actually came true metaphorically, where in most cases it shouldn't really. |

Well with Only Fools & Horses, it's a no. Here's what happened to the programme over the years. 1981-1983: Some funny moments, but could have been axed unless of Series 2's storylines .1984-1987: Lennard Pearce died & the fourth series dragged at points, also keep away from the 86 Xmas special(it was very disapointing) .1988-1990: Romance finally arrives and their lives seem change too quickly .1991-1996: This era is alot funnier and this is where it should have ended .2001-2003: Badly written pile of junk  . If it returned it would be terrible. |

I'm afraid I have to agree with everyone here. 'Only Fools And Horses' was of its time, and in a lot of respects was a very funny show, but I don't honestly see what new ideas could be brought in for another series. It should be left as it was, which was a classic comedy. |

There's a programme I've found on BBC1 on fridays 8:30pm called After You've Gone featuring Nicholas Lyndhurst and it's like a watered down version of My Family. I think Nicholas has either passed his best before date or he's getting too old. |

I had the misfortune to watch some of After You've Gone and it was complete crap. Horrible, middle-class drivel in the same vein as Don't Wait Up and To The Manor Born. Awful, insulting rubbish. Unfortunately, the BBC excels at this sort of thing. |
