Welcome to The TV Shelter.

We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible.

However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique.

And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums.

And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried.

We hope you enjoy your visit.

Hello loungers

Are there any fans of the Beano comic here? Then you'll like what's coming up. BBC4 are going to launch a special season dedicated to british comics this time and will be shown sometime in september. There was a trailer on BBC2 last night featuring the Bash Street Kids. I cannot wait to see it.

This sounds good! Looking forward to seeing this! I read loads of British comics when I was a kid-Beano, Dandy, Beezer, Topper, Buster, Whizzer & Chips, Whoopee & Cheeky. Happy memories...

I'm more of a Marvel fan, so I'll be looking forward to the documentury on Steve Ditko, reclusive creator of Spider-Man, Dr. Strange, Question and Capt. Atom, amongst others.

I saw the first programme last night, and it was pretty good. They covered the start of the Beano from 1937, the creation of The Dandy and others that followed right up to the mid-late '70s. Then they featured Whizzer & Chips, Buster, and Whoopee comics. I had loads of these... but threw 'em away in me teens   . Anyway, I still have about 300 issues of 2000AD, so I hope they feature them in their adult comic section next week.

I was rather pissed off last night that I missed it without any notification of when the show was to begin. Surely something as good as this should've been on BBC2 instead as there's a chance for us analogue viewers to see it.

I've recently watched Tintin & Me that was on at 8pm. It was about the creator Herge, how he made it and how the comic had an effect on his life and vice versa. Hats off to the Tintin comics, one of my favourite reads.
