Welcome to The TV Shelter.

We are sorry to say that as of the 8th April 2014, The TV Shelter will no longer be open to new posts, threads or members. Like that famous Monty Python sketch, this forum has joined the choir invisible.

However this will continue to remain as an archive so that visitors can mindlessly plunder through old threads to look at PIFs, TV listings and other miscellanea that made this place truly unique.

And if you still can't get your fix of TV nostalgia visit Facebook's TV Heaven or even TV Ark, the website that spawned the original forums.

And finally a long standing has made a successor to the TV Shelter, which to a few is reminiscent of when an ITV franchise would change to another. The forum is called The TV Lounge and should keep the spirit running that it's predecessors carried.

We hope you enjoy your visit.

Hi folks,
I wondered if any fellow shelterers (doesn't work quite as well as loungers, but never mind!) have any opinions on the Tiswas reunited programme last night. I particularly enjoyed the reference to ATV at the beginning from the robotic ITV announcer, and the tour of the old ATV studios on Broad St. (which are in a sad state of disrepair, but thankfully still standing!)

However, the show seemed to lack something for me. I expected more of a flashback approach, with Sally and Chris introducing some of the more anarchic moments from the series. I didn't really see the point in an appearance from (Sir) Trevor McDonald, and Professor Bellamy!

Still, it had some humourous stuff, including the jibe about Gary (bastard) Glitter....
The 70's, a time when 13 year old girls had pictures of Gary Glitter on their walls...as opposed to the other way round! Very naughty!

It was a shame not to see Peter Tomlinson to represent the early years!

Any comments anyone?

I thoroughly enjoyed the programme.... Needless to say there will be things people would have liked to see and didn't, and 25 - 30 years on it was never going to be exactly as it was... That said, I think there was a fair showing of familiar pieces....
I was stunned that the ITV anno made reference to ATV, and pleased that the ATV ident made an appearance at the beginning of the programme (even though it was cropped to fit a widescreen frame making it larger on screen).

The show kept me smiling all night which is no mean feat let me tell you !

:D

I really enjoyed it too! Great to see Spit the Dog on TV again, and like westward, I was grinning from ear to ear!

I guess they didn't show much footage because not a lot of it exists?

Tiswas Reunited was the best show I have seen on ITV1 this year - brilliant entertainment and I hardly stopped laughing. I thought the ATV reference by the announcer was magic! :D Bloody marvellous! :D I already have my Tiswas Reunited DVD on order! :)

digger - I was surprised :o that Peter Tomlinson wasn't featured either because he was one of the original team from 1974. We saw Trevor East but not John Asher (I wonder what became of him?)

On BBCi (I think or SKYtext) Sally James said " she was hoping Tiswas will return to the small screen after a project, is being shown to TV stations" so maybe sometime better to watch on TV for a change.
