Hacking BN5 Guide This guide will explain how to hack your own battles in the game. The game's data is similar to that of BN6s. If you have hacked BN6 before, you should understand this quicker. Please note that this is for the US version only. I do not have JP, so I can't give you the address. First of all, you have to find the battle you will hack. It is one of the battles in Gargoyle Comp 1. Probably a "not so convenient" place, but deal with it. I could probably find another location anyways. Make sure to have both Nebula holes colsed before doing this. Having them open may throw everyhting off. Team Colonel players will have to find a battle with 2 Battys and a Ninjoy. Team Protoman players will have to find a battle with a LarkEX (it's the only battle with that virus) Once you have found that battle, beat it or run away. After that, use LocEnemy to ensure the encounter of that battle. Now, put in the address that corresponds to your version. Team Colonel = 0811D0B0 = Gargoyle Comp1 Team Protoman = 0811D080 = Gargoyle Comp1 Both rows should look almost exactly the same. Look further into that row for a value of F0. That is where you will start the editing. First up is 00 22 00 00. These are the values that modify where Megaman starts and such. The first 00 is the kind that he is. 00 means you can control them, and it only works on Megaman. The value 22 is the location. Here is an example grid: 00 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 10 [11][12][13]|[14][15][16] 17 20 [21][22][23]|[24][25][26] 27 30 [31][32][33]|[34][35][36] 37 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 The next values don't really matter what it is. 00 automatically overwrites that. Anyways, now that you have that done, you can start editing viruses. The first value that starts a virus is 11. The value 11 is the value that makes it an enemy. This is the kind modifier. You can change it to various values to make them various objects. I reccomend you experiment with the virus it is when using it. It tends to change. Here is the list. Kind List 00= Megaman 01= Enemy Megaman 11= Enemy 12= Ally 20= Myetery Data 30= Rock 40= Nothing 70= Flag (always yours) 80= Rock Cube Up next is the virus's value. You can freely change this to any of the below values: Virus List 00= TestVirus 01= Mettaur 02= MettaurEX 03= Mettaur2 04= Mettaur2EX 05= Mettaur3 06= Mettaur3EX 07= Powie 08= PowieEX 09= Powie2 0A= Powie2EX 0B= Powie3 0C= Powie3EX 0D= BugTank 0E= BugTankEX 0F= BugTank2 10= BugTank2EX 11= BugTank3 12= BugTank3EX 13= Handi 14= HandiEX 15= Handi2 16= Handi2EX 17= Handi3 18= Handi3EX 19= Dominerd 1A= DominerdEX 1B= Dominerd2 1C= Dominerd2EX 1D= Dominerd3 1E= Dominerd3EX 1F= MetFire 20= MetFireEX 21= MetFire2 22= MetFire2EX 23= MetFire3 24= MetFire3EX 25= Shakey 26= ShakeyEX 27= Shakey2 28= Shakey2EX 29= Shakey3 2A= Shakey3EX 2B= Trumpy 2C= Tuby 2D= Tromby 2E= MuteAnt 2F= Xylos 30= TrumpySP 31= NinJoy 32= NinJoyEX 33= NinJoy2 34= NinJoy2EX 35= NinJoy3 36= NinJoy3EX 37= WindBox 38= VacuummFan 39= WindBox2 3A= VacuummFan2 3B= WindBox3 3C= VacuummFan3 3D= Lark 3E= LarkEX 3F= Lark2 40= Lark2EX 41= Lark3 42= Lark3EX 43= BombBoy 44= BombBoyEX 45= BombBoy2 46= BombBoy2EX 47= BombBoy3 48= BombBoy3EX 49= Zomon 4A= ZomonEX 4B= Zomon2 4C= Zomon2EX 4D= Zomon3 4E= Zomon3EX 4F= CannonGuard 50= CannonGuardEX 51= CannonGuard2 52= CannonGuard2EX 53= CannonGuard3 54= CannonGuard3EX 55= Catack 56= CatackEX 57= Catack2 58= Catack2EX 59= Catack3 5A= Catack3EX 5B= Drixol 5C= DrixolEX 5D= Drixol2 5E= Drixol2EX 5F= Drixol3 60= Drixol3EX 61= Batty 62= BattyEX 63= Batty2 64= Batty2EX 65= Batty3 66= Batty3EX 67= Skarab 68= SkarabEX 69= Skarab2 6A= Skarab2EX 6B= Skarab3 6C= Skarab3EX 6D= Champy 6E= ChampyEX 6F= Champy2 70= Champy2EX 71= Champy3 72= Champy3EX 73= Draggin 74= DragginEX 75= Draggin2 76= Draggin2EX 77= Draggin3 78= Draggin3EX 79= Whirly 7A= WhirlyEX 7B= Whirly2 7C= Whirly2EX 7D= Whirly3 7E= Whirly3EX 7F= Marina 80= MarinaEX 81= Marina2 82= Marina2EX 83= Marina3 84= Marina3EX 85= Flashy 86= FlashyEX 87= Flashy2 88= Flashy2EX 89= Flashy3 8A= Flashy3EX 8B= Eleogre 8C= EleorgeEX 8D= Eleogre2 8E= Eleorge2EX 8F= Eleogre3 90= Eleogre3EX 91= Cactikill 92= CactikillEX 93= Cactikill2 94= Cactikill2EX 95= Cactikill3 96= Cactikill3EX 97= WuNote 98= WuNoteEX 99= WuNote2 9A= WuNote2EX 9B= WuNote3 9C= WuNote3EX 9D= Appley 9E= AppleyEX 9F= Appley2 A0= Appley2EX A1= Appley3 A2= Appley3EX A3= BigBrute1 A4= BigBrute2 A5= BigBrute3 A6= BigBrute4 A7= BigBrute5 A8= BigBrute6 A9= TinHawk1 AA= TinHawk2 AB= TinHawk3 AC= TinHawk4 AD= TinHawk5 AE= TinHawk6 AF= Bladia1 B0= Bladia2 B1= Bladia3 B2= Bladia4 B3= Bladia5 B4= Bladia6 B5= Crossover Battle Mettaur1 B6= Crossover Battle Mettaur1EX B7= Crossover Battle Mettaur2 B8= Crossover Battle Mettaur2EX B9= Crossover Battle Mettaur3 BA= Crossover Battle Mettaur3EX BB= CB Met1 BC= CB Met1EX BD= CB Met2 BE= CB Met2EX BF= CB Met3 C0= CB Met3EX C1= CB Met1 C2= CB Met1EX C3= CB Met2 C4= CB Met2EX C5= CB Met3 C6= CB Met3EX C7= Tuby C8= TubyEX C9= Tuby2 CA= Tuby2EX CB= Tuby3 CC= Tuby3EX The following appear as a Mettaur CD= Flag CE= Otenko CF= Rock D0= RockCube D1= IceCube D2= *blank* D3= *blank* D4= BombCube D5= BlackBomb D6= Wind D7= Fan D8= TimeBomb D9= TimeBomb+ DA= *blank* DB= Anubis DC= PoisonPharoah DD= Fanfare DE= Discord DF= Timpani E0= Silence E1= DarkSonic E2= VDoll E3= Guardian E4= Voltz E5= AirSpin E6= ChaosLord E7= RedFriut E8= ChemicalFlash E9= ModMegaMan EA= BCMegaMan EB= *CRASHES GAME* F0= *CRASHES GAME* F1= *CRASHES GAME* F2= *CRASHES GAME* F3= *CRASHES GAME* Strange how Operation Mode names are here and appears as Mettaurs. Just don't use those. The Nebula holes may throw off this entire virus list, so please have them all closed. The next value you will see is 00. This is only set to 01 when fighting a Navi. Since you would probably want to do this, change 00 to 01. Each virus "transforms" into a certain Navi. Here is the list: Virus to Navi List Example: Virus1 = NaviV1 Virus1EX = NaviV2 Virus2 = NaviV3 Virus2EX = NaviOmega Virus3 = Extra version (usually glitched) Virus3EX = NaviDS 01= Mettaur = Protoman 07= Powie = Gyroman 0D= BugTank = Searchman 13= Handi = Napalmman 19= Dominerd = Magnetman 1F= MetFire = Meddy 25= Shakey = Colonel 2B= Trumpy = Shadowman 31= NinJoy = Numberman 37= WindBox = Tomahawkman 3D= Lark = Knightman 43= BombBoy = Toadman 49= Zomon = Shademan 4F= CannonGuard = Blizzardman 55= Catack = Cloudman 5B= Drixol = Cosmoman 61= Batty = Larkman 67= Skarab = Gridman 6D= Champy = Bass 73= Draggin = NebulaGrey 79= Whirly = Shademan (again?) 7F= Marina = Palette-messed Shademan 85= Flashy = Various Megamans 8B= Eleogre = Various Megamans ***EVERYTHING BELOW FREEZES THE GAME*** By doing this, you can fight DS Navis you were never supposed to! Even so, they won't use chips. They really should have done this for BN4... That just about covers it for editing a virus. You can add more by copying the simple format: XX XX XX XX Kind Location Virus Navi Trigger Just remember that to add more viruses, you have to replace the value F0 to the Kind of the next enemy. When you're done, don't forget to tack on that F0. The maximum amount of of enemies allowed on each side is 4. Battle Type Modding Battle Modding is exactly like in BN6. If you've done that before, this should be a cinch. Start by taking the corresponding address to your version: Team Colonel = 0811CCB0 Team Protoman = 0811CC80 Let's go in order this time. Let's start with Music Modding Just like every other time, 15 is the regular virus battle music. Itis near the end of the row. Change it to any of the values below to get that music. Music Modding 00= No music 01= Title Screen 02= Nebula Theme 03= ACDC Theme 04= Indoors Theme 05= SciLab Theme 06= Oran Island 07= Queen Bohemia 08= Gargoyle Castle 09= Nebula Base 0A= No Music (wtf?) 0B= Old Mine 0C= Incident Occurance 0D= Sad Theme 0E= Hero Theme 0F= Transmission! 10= SciLab Network 11= Drill Comp 12= SoulSever Comp 13= Network Theme 14= Undernet Theme 15= Virus Battle 16= Boss Battle 17= Nebula Grey's Theme 18= Liberate Complete! 19= Winner 1A= Loser 1B= Game Over 1C= Enemy Encounter 1D= Credits 1E= Navi Customizer 1F= Winner (short version) 20= Ship Computer 21= Gargoyle Computer 22= Liberation Mission 23= Crossover Battle (hit with stick game) 24= 1 Turn Liberate! 25= No Music Battle Type Mod To change this, change the value on the right of the music value. Here is the list: 00= Regualr Battle 01= Crossover Battle (freezes. Can be played if mode is switched during battle) 02= Battle Tutorial 1 03= Battle Tutorial 2 04= Battle Tutorial 3 05= SoulUnision Tutorial 06= Liberation Mode (custom guage opens automatically) 07= Chaos Unision Tutorial (untranslated tutorial that was removed in both games) 08= Crashes Probably the most intersting thing is value 07. The programmers left in a secret tutorial that explains how to use Chaos Unison. They probably thought it would make the game too easy and got rid of it from both the US and JP versions. Changing the Background Just like always, the BG of the battle is value FF. This value is located on the next row. (there is a column of them) Here is the list of BackGrounds: 00= Numeric BG 01= Drill BG 02= Lan's PC 03= Mayl's PC 04= Dex's PC 05= Yai's PC 06= Yellow BG 07= Blue BG 08= ACDC BG 09= Oran BG 0A= SciLab BG 0B= VisionBurst BG 0C= ACDC BG 0D= Oran BG 0E= SciLabBG 0F= End Area BG 10= Ship BG 11= SciLab HP BG 12= End Area BG 13= Gargoyle HP BG 14= End Area BG 15= Nebula BG 16= Gargoyle Comp BG 17= Dark Chip BG 18= Undernet BG 19= Blue Static BG 1A= Undernet BG 1B= Nebula Grey BG 1C= Blue Static BG 1D= Crashes Too many duplicates for no reason. Just ignore them. Changing the Battle Number To change the number of the battle, change the 00 you see on to the right of the BG value. Remeber that the numbers are in hex, so 10 is 0A and 20 is not 20. It goes 0-9 A-F Liberation Mode The next value you see is 38. This is makes it a neutral area. However, changing it even by one will throw the whole stage out of wack. There are dozens of combinations that this lets you do but, too much to mention... Skipping the result screen To skip the reults screen, change the value E2 to E1. It is located a bit farther than the liberation mode value. There are other values you can change this to to get interesting reults, but I don't know much. Fiddle with that if you want. ========================================================================== Copyright That is all. Hope you had fun with this and understood it.
