![]() Welcome to the official topic for my mini-series The New Crisis! I will update the topic with sprites, codes and tips to those who read this. Below, are the links to the individual parts. A playlist is available on my Youtube profile. Click the Youtube links to leave comments. Episode List -Episode 1- -Episode 2- -Episode 3- -Episode 4- -Episode 4.5- -Episode 5- -Episode 6- -Episode 7- -Episode 8- -Episode 8.5- -----------------------------------------------------------> And here is some background information:
True story, you know. At least it will be since it comes after the ending from BN6. --- [Episode 8.5 is another bonus episode. This time, however the events don't actually affect the current story. I did this simply because I couldn't do it any other way. I knew how to import maps, sprites and manipulate script (which thanks to GM's Dialog Editor tool, makes it very simple) Know this, this episode is a work of fiction. That isn't what really happened in the Japanese version. That dialog was deleted in the localized version. Only the battle scene text remained and I preserved that partially. Also, GM insisted I use those two Trauma Center music tracks. The Savato theme in the first Hakushaku battle, and the Alethia theme in the second battle. Plus, I just had to use the Lunar Knights tracks. I required lots of resources in this episode. There were lots of .dmp files to be used. You can actually download them all! I encourage you to explore them. http://willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=63001 And one last thing. I figured out that the rom can be expanded to 16MB with no errors. This may become especially useful to me. With nearly 8MB of extra room, I can actually add lots of more things in the game like sprites. Since Episode 9 will require lots of sprites that aren't in Falzter version I can keep the new sprites permanently! [box=episode 8 stuff]Wow. Already episode 8. The making these episodes are starting to feel different. This time around, I was importing more script. That is, I was using Barubary's program to generate converted text and I was importing most of it. That's why you can see that the script is starting to get a little longer. I can finally elaborate the script rather than shorten it. This is also the first episode to reach 3 separate parts. I definitely wanted to have the Dustman+Groundman crisis in this episode, but I didn't have enough content at first. Then I started adding more to it and it became what you've seen now. Also, that covers all the Navis in the Faltzer version. That was also my intent. This being episode 8, only 3 episodes remain. I plan on including the following: Ep. 8.5 "Dream" Ep. 9: "Final Solution" Ep.10: "Finale" Credits Epilogue Then that's it. My series will be over. But there's still more community involvement. On March 1, the next Hacked Battle Contest will begin. Further details will be given at the date, but submission forms will be used again. Anyways, here is the episode stuff as always. First off, the cutscene. Congratulations to Chris-Sama. He won the previous contest so he gets his entry featured. ![]() Again, GM made this - with my instruction of course. Here are the episode sprites. I had a lot of recolors to put in this time. That was a long complex process. ![]() I think the colors are getting better than before. Oh, and Lan and Megaman have those emotions now. They've been modified to improve quality as well. But I use both this expression and the original expression now. They have 2 expressions on 2 different values. You'll notice it in the episode. And to top off the new feel I wanted to add, I made a new emotion window. Based off of this art. I shrunk it, adjusted the colors and edited it. So far, it seems people like it. And finally, the cheats I made to give Faltzer Beast Sigma those uber-hacking abilities. select and copy chips 720364D7 0001 820365C6 0000 720364D7 0001 820365D2 0000 720364D7 0001 820365DE 0000 720364D7 0001 820365F6 0000 720364D7 0001 820365EA 0000 720364D7 0001 82036602 0000 720364D7 0001 8203660E 0000 720364D7 0001 8203661A 0000 recovery, hp bug, paralyze 720364D7 0001 3203CE50 00FF 720364D7 0001 3203CE18 0006 720364D7 0001 320349DA 0050 720364D7 0001 82034A04 0606 720364D7 0001 82034A06 0606 turns restriction 720364D7 0000 3203CE21 000A 720364D7 0001 3203CE21 0000 attack increase 720364D7 0001 320349DA 0050 720364D7 0001 320349DC 0050 720364D7 0001 320349DE 0050 720364D7 0001 320349E0 0050 720364D7 0001 320349E2 0050 That's all I have. Keep watching! I know you'll like the next episodes![/box] [box=episode 7 stuff] There's some cool stuff I want to cover this time. First, the Shadowman Sigma color sheet. Cool, isn't it. It was really hard to get it in the game because there wouldn't have been a good permanent spot for a sheet so large. It was all temporary. Also, the email scene was too important to compromise. I created an image and used Bitmap Font Writer to place the text. http://i55.photobucket.com/albums/g144/mega_rock_exe/mrpress_email_scene.png And new only in this episode, I did cutscenes for all the important bosses. Surprise, surprise, Shadowman gets one too. I did most of the edits on this one. ![]() On the topic of him. When I first made his AI, it was really hard. I just kept losing. Then the battle seemed rushed because I had to win quick. Those shurikens dealt a lot of damage and I couldn't control how many came down. Also, neat fact but I wanted him to have a fire breath attack, but he didn't have enough frames to use any of them and they were all too quick. Faltzer Beast Megaman gets a totally epic one. ![]() GM did most of it. He knows what he's doing. The thing is, this wasn't the exact picture I wanted. It's from the anime. At the top left corner, you can still see the windy effect that was on the original. Now about his AI. I made it on Sunday. I especially wanted that explosion attack he used once or twice. I wanted to give him the twister attack but they all lasted 1 second and did no damage. So I had to put in some other attack, the Elec Pulse. I also wanted to give him the slashes but none of them jumped at the target, so I just gave him the Tank Cannon. This battle was so hard. For 2 straight days, I could not beat him. With low HP, he just spams the Tank Cannon and Elec Pulse which spells death for almost anyone. You know that attack spam this AI can do. ![]() Then suddenly on the third day, I beat him on my second try. I was quite rushed. That part where Tenguman fired the buster for no reason was actually me pushing B on accident while I went to go pick up my night-time quesadilla snack. ![]() You can actually try to battle him by trying this memory dump! http://willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=43946 Well, rather rom dump. It's the entire rom data in .dmp form. It's for temporary uses. Just import it at 08000000 and go fight the hacked battle. Everything should be intact. Closest thing you'll come to a "patch" for this. You'll notice I didn't leave a cliffhanger ending this time. I think this trend might work better. The beginning should be more critical. Also, Special Thanks to Barubary! By the first few scenes in 7-2, I was using a script-generating program he made for me. It was a real timesaver. I can put in a starting address and type in the message I want and the program generates the lines automatically! Awesome! [/box] [box=part 6 stuff]Ok so here's what I got for this part. First up, sprite sheets. Here is the recolor for the Normal Navi sprite I used. ![]() Making him actually animate that way was the hardest part. And the boss, the Sigma Dragon. ![]() I edited his animations to include a palette change on idle animation. For other uses, here is the .dmp file of the Normal Navi sprite sheet. Should be unmodified. http://willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=38740 Minor comments on this episode. At first, I didn't have a solid story to go along with this time until I revised it in my head over and over. In the future, I will use more imported sprites. Also, that dream scene in the beginning was a last minute thing. It might have some significance, you know. Um...that's it I guess. Don't forget to ask questions. Oh, and the remade TBC screen. I could have made it, but GM insisted. ![]() [/box] [box=part 5 stuff] I've obviously broken some records here. I recorded 44 clips to make this part. The cheats for the text equal to about 36 KB. I had to sit in front of my computer for an average of 15 hours for 3 days. Enough about me. Here's what I have for this episode. You can download all my important files here. http://willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=32289 It comes with memory dumps I used and a text file with all my cheats. Oh, here are the sprites. Special thanks to Boilman of Sprites INC for helping me design WaveMan. I can't thank him enough for helping me. Now here are some other important cheats I used. Took me 2 days to make (about 20 hours) I hope to keep you guessing for the next part. Remember that Part 5 will be huge! With a cliffhanger ending and the arrival of the antagonist character, you'll be hooked! Also, please keep in mind how condensed the script has to be. I must convey my ideas in short messages. In the game, 2 letters are 1 line of cheat. Now plus all the letters and lines, and cheat limit I must consider... it's tough. Oh, and here are the sprites. Good ol' Gutsman in that Link PET ![]() ![]() [/box] [box=part 4 stuff]It took me 3 whole days to finish this part. It felt rather quick. Now, I already spoiled the sprites in the previous announcement, so there isn't much new this time. I only have this: ![]() A dark background for Green Area since it is in trouble. Expect more soon.[/box] [box=part 3 stuff]Not many errors for Part 3. Only a minor black scene in 3-1, but that's it. 3-2 is perfect. Here are sprites for Part 3. ![]() I am aware that I have not yet used all the Aquaman sprites yet, but I made them on the same sheet at the same time, so I did not remove them. Sneak peak! I WILL NOT be posting blank lines for this episode mainly because I already posted a lot, and I'm basically talking to myself, so no, not this time. Also, now being aware that even this episode totaled up to be about 15 minutes, it is a guarantee that the rest will be about 15 minutes or longer. No memory dumps or state saves this time. Maybe next time. [/box] [box=part 2 stuff]Sprites for Part 2. ![]() Also, a reminder. This part was supposed to introduce the bigger problem. I can guarantee that the next parts won't be so long. I won't post cheats for all the script this time because it's over 1000 lines long. Instead, I'll give you empty lines for the areas I used so you can freely add text to those lines.[/box] [box2=Text Cheats]ACDC Town Blank Cheat 8202DD9C E802 8202DD9E 1100 8202DDA0 3E2A 8202DDA2 8202DDA4 8202DDA6 8202DDA8 8202DDAA 8202DDAC 8202DDAE 8202DDB0 8202DDB2 8202DDB4 8202DDB6 8202DDB8 8202DDBA 8202DDBC 8202DDBE 8202DDC0 8202DDC2 8202DDC4 8202DDC6 8202DDC8 8202DDCA 8202DDCC 8202DDCE 8202DDD0 8202DDD2 8202DDD4 8202DDD6 8202DDD8 8202DDDA 8202DDDC 8202DDDE 8202DDE0 8202DDE2 8202DDE4 8202DDE6 Central Town blank text 820305B0 820305B2 820305B4 820305B6 820305B8 820305BA 820305BC 820305BE 820305C0 820305C2 820305C4 820305C6 820305C8 820305CA 820305CC 820305CE 820305D0 820305D2 820305D4 820305D6 820305D8 820305DA 820305DC 820305DE central area 1 text 8202DDBE E8 8202DDC0 8202DDC2 8202DDC4 8202DDC6 8202DDC8 8202DDCA 8202DDCC 8202DDCE 8202DDD0 8202DDD2 8202DDD4 8202DDD6 8202DDD8 8202DDDA 8202DDDC 8202DDDE 8202DDE0 8202DDE2 8202DDE4 8202DDE6 8202DDE8 8202DDEA 8202DDEC 8202DDEE 8202DDF0 8202DDF2 8202DDF4 8202DDF6 8202DDF8 8202DDFA 8202DDFC 8202DDFE 8202DE00 8202DE02 8202DE04 8202DE06 8202DE08 8202DE0A 8202DE0C 8202DE0E 8202DE10 8202DE12 8202DE14 8202DE16 8202DE18 8202DE1A 8202DE1C 8202DE1E 8202DE20 8202DE22 8202DE24 8202DE26 8202DE28 8202DE2A 8202DE2C 8202DE2E 8202DE30 8202DE32 8202DE34 8202DE36 8202DE38 8202DE3A 8202DE3C central area 2 text 3202DAEB 0037 8202DAEE 8202DAF0 8202DAF2 8202DAF4 8202DAF6 8202DAF8 8202DAFA 8202DAFC 8202DAFE 8202DB00 8202DB02 8202DB04 8202DB06 8202DB08 8202DB0A 8202DB0C 8202DB0E 8202DB10 8202DB12 8202DB14 8202DB16 8202DB18 8202DB1A 8202DB1C 8202DB1E 8202DB20 8202DB22 8202DB24 8202DB26 8202DB28 8202DB2A 8202DB2C 8202DB2E 8202DB30 8202DB32 8202DB34 8202DB36 8202DB38 8202DB3A 8202DB3C 8202DB3E 8202DB40 8202DB42 8202DB44 8202DB46 8202DB48 8202DB4A 8202DB4C 8202DB4E 8202DB50 8202DB52 8202DB54 8202DB56 8202DB58 8202DB5A 8202DB5C 8202DB5E 8202DB60 8202DB62 8202DB64 8202DB66 8202DB68 8202DB6A 8202DB6C 8202DB6E 8202DB70 8202DB72 [/box2] Also, if you would like to try Protoman Sigma, you can download my state save and dump file of him. Get it here and see for yourself. http://willhostforfood.com/access.php?fileid=24047 -------------------------- [box=part 1]Errors include some video editing errors. I attempted to make the crisis theme loop, but failed; Tomahawkman was supposed to have 4000 HP, but I guess I missed it when I re-recorded the video. I will release my resources this time in hopes of others trying it. Sprites: ![]() ...and here's the extravagant "to be continued" screen GM insisted on making for me. ![]() Uh, this video took 3 weeks to make, just an interesting fact. I made it because it is more deep than just random battles with a little script. Instead of L message hacking, I did NPC message hacking. It involves pushing a button, like select, to start a conversation with that person, but hack th text with cheats to insert the message. In the box, I have ALL the cheats for all the words (or most of them) used in the video. The easiest part about this method is that they can be reconstructed to create new messages. Remember I did all of the lines individually and are very time consuming.[/box] [box2=All cheats for script]EvilLine 82034A42 2621 82034A44 0038 82034A46 2D39 82034A48 002A 82034A4A 3534 82034A4C 372A That is all, and enjoy. There will be a part 2, so don't give up hope.

There's a bit of information that I should have mentioned. There will be a maximum of 10 episodes to this series. School is almost out for me, so this may just be possible. In the meantime, just keep guessing and I will try to release an episode every 3 weeks. (as it takes a long time to produce) |

Just to clear up any confusion, I updated the first post with some basic background information. That should tie it together with Part 1 and Part 2 should really make it clear. |

Hmm. I didn't quite remember that until now. I think it would have made the situation feel different if I did that. Edit: Updated first post with several clean lines to edit the dialog for the sequence when you start a New Game. |

As I said in my comment, I lol'd at the ending. Sproutman: 'What the drip?' This is clearly the best mini series I have seen. Technically, all of the other ones I saw were made by n00bs, but you get the idea. Really cool. |

Saving the video takes 30 minutes, so I want to get it right the second time only. Since it had to be split in 2 parts, expect the next half to appear soon. To me, the first part was riddled with errors. |

The thing is, this wasn't the exact picture I wanted. It's from the anime. At the top left corner, you can still see the windy effect that was on the original.
