Here are the top software downloads that Download.com recommends. If you don't have enough programs, or these particular programs installed, you might not be ready for the Internet. I highly suggest you download these. Feel free to add more by replying anytime. |

McAfee Site Advisor. It plugs into FF and IE based browsers. It says McAfee SiteAdvisor on it, and connects to siteadvisor.com and checks the 'rating' of the site your on. It uses a bot test PC and signs up at sites that allow you to sign up (forums, purchasing sites), and checks for spam email, it tests downloads for virus's, links to other bad sites, browser breaching... that stuff. It's a complete need for browsers. Google it, i'm too lazy to fetch a link to it. Oh yeah, it's also free. |

Yeah, they all have their own opinions. It's good to know when you have a program that is considered the best without even knowing. |

That regards what You're downloading. Of course, if You will download for example archives ( .rar ) or documents ( .doc ) there is a chance You will catch one. I had many viruses from Emule but that doesn't mean i must look for another program. I never heard about .mp3 viruses, so if You will download single files You're safe. |
