Name: Mack Deus Callsign: Apollo Age: 25 Allegiance: Earth Rank: 2nd Lieutenant Appearance: Mack is 5'10" with a medium build. His muscles get a workout regularly from time spent in the cockpit which keeps them dense and trim. He has brown hair with almost gray eyes. He's always seen in his flight jumpsuit or workout clothes but on required occasions he wears his dress uniform. ![]() ![]() Personality: He never had a family growing up, so his fellow orphans were his family for most of his life. Because of this, he makes good friends fast, a trait thats not lost on the highly personal environment of life in a fighter squadron. He's eager to go up in rank, even though he's afraid of the responsibility. all his life he's only ever had to be responsible for himself so being put in charge of a group of pilots scares him, but he also finds it exciting. Skills: Mack is an accomplished aeronautic mechanic and is learning starfighter mechanics quickly. He is also and expert pilot, having been one all of his professional life. Biography: Mack was an orphan on Earth. His parents hadn't wanted a child and baby Mack was put into an adoption agency in North America. Eventually, going through several foster homes he ended up in an orphanage in the UK where he was finally released on his 18th birthday. For the first year after his release he ended up doing a few odd jobs here and there to earn enough money to survive, he got into airplanes, and then the next logical step, spacecraft. He put himself through several aeronautics classes and some lessens in Astrophysics. He got a job repairing civilian fliers and ended up buying one himself. Earning plenty from his job as a airplane mechanic, he spent his money making several modifications to his flier. Making it vacuum proof, adding in a space navigation computer and reinforcing the stabilizers and drive feeds, ending ultimately in adding on simple maneuvering thrusters for maneuvering in outer space. This hobby of his became near an obsession. All his funds were put into upgrading and modifying this simple atmospheric flier into a working spacecraft. He never actually launched it into space however. He might have been absorbed in this project but he wasn't stupid enough to launch into space with no experience flying space vehicles. He quickly decided that learning how to fly spaceships were the next step in his "Little Project." He bought every book on the subject he could and spent hours in the cockpit of his Frankenstein's monster running simulations and doing diagnostics on it's systems. Eventually he joined Earth's starfighter core, learning the intricacies of dogfights in space, starfighter mechanics, launching from a mother ship and generally how to pilot a FF-XII Core Fighter II in outer space as well as atmosphere. He never flew a combat mission and retained the title "Nugget" to all his squadmates. He was based in Australia when it was nuked. He was doing a standard patrol/recon flight over the coast when the first nuke hit. He and his wingman Had to eject after their fighters ran out of fuel, but both of them managed to make it to the aircraft carrier Enterprise that was on maneuvers near the Philippians. After that, Mack was stationed on the Pegasus-class carrier (Gray Phantom variant) Roger Young as a replacement for the fighter squadron Suicide Kings. Since resources were tight, Mack wasn't issued a new fighter after his first one sank to the bottom of the pacific ocean. Not one to turn down an offer for a new war machine, the Earth Fighter Core allowed Mack to bring his modified flier aboard the Roger Young to be worked into a functional space fighter by Mack and the Roger Young's mechanics. Equipment: Mack owns his personal fighter which was an atmospheric flier at one point but after multiple modifications over 2 years and a few month with expert mechanics on board the Roger Young has been transformed into a top quality Starfighter. ![]() He also carries his standard officers sidearm. A P229 9mm pistol which was standard issue to officer when Mack graduated the academy. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/7/7e/P229_blk.jpg |
