He payed the taxi operator a dime for good luck and walked across the deck. He looked over to his left and saw the nuggets. He could tell they were nuggets due to the tell tale paper badges pinned to their shoulders. Mack was surprised to see himself looking down on them. Not to long ago he was a nugget to. In fact, he still was technically. He had done one combat mission sure, but against easy stationary targets. Still, that earned him the right to take the nugget badge off and stand tall with his fellow pilots. Then he recognized the pilot standing in front of the pilots. James Avery, one of the best pilots in the fleet. Mack decided to check this out. He walked over to the seats, flipped on backwards and sat down on it.* |
