Summary

We began with the basic premise of the political structure of the Central Continent of Laurasia. There was Dingard, the northeastern kingdom, Saronia, the central nation, and Daetalus, the southern nation, the Kingdom of Sekiha, the Southern Trade Empire, and the Eastern Trade Empire. In the year 1000 AC, the nation of Dingard, ruled by an arrogant emperor responsibly for conquering the city-state of Reno years earlier, declared war on the nation of Saronia. A series of violent battles shook both nations and their neighbors.

During this time, a creature called Rabist, which had been dormant in the Eternal Forest between the two nations, attacked and decimated the capitol cities of Dingard and Saronia. Although Rabist herself was temporarily defeated in the battle that followed, the devastation caused by her attack left the continent without a central political power to restore order, as Daetalus had become isolated from the other kingdoms long ago.

More importantly, the vulnerability of the two kingdoms left the defenses of the Traveler's Gate, a sanctuary containing the seal of a creature called Janus, exposed. During the chaos, a man named Dion rallied the Elemental Lords, ancient demon enemies of the kingdoms, to attack the sanctuary in hopes of freeing Janus. A group of warriors who had struggled through the war between Dingard and Saronia fought Dion and the Elemental Lords, but ultimately failed to stop them from resurrecting Janus.

The dark lord had been revived, and the Elemental Lords and Dion soon found that their efforts were only to be met with death and enslavement. The Elemental Lords were destroyed, and Janus forced Dion, a genius scientist, to help him conquer Daetalus, the last remaining kingdom on the continent. Within a year, Janus had turned Daetalus into a powerful empire, completely conquering the Southern Trade Empire.

Rabist, however, had also been revived, turning the once beautiful lands of Dingard and Saronia into wasteland inhabited only by outcasts of Janus's empire. The Wild Lands, as they came to be called, eventually became a nation united under the ruthless Clint, who sought revenge against Janus for banishing him to the Wild Lands.

Clint gathered together the remaining resources of Dingard and Saronia to build an army, and with it he attacked the domed capitol city of Daetalus. With the help of famed mercenary Jin Dao, Clint destroyed the dome. However, the brave defenders of the city repelled him before he could destroy the city. The defenders of the empire, led by a man named Michael, eventually forced Clint all the way back to Kingston, the city bordering the Wild Lands. It appeared that Clint would be defeated, and the empire would be saved.

However, Janus was not to see his empire become the great nation he had envisioned. In reality, the dark lord Janus was the counterpart of the dark being Rabist. Many thousands of years ago, the two of them had formed one being, Rabisat, a demon who had tried to absorb the world's abundant magical energy. Rabisat would eventually be defeated by the combined armies of an alliance of humans, demons, and gods. However, the gods had suffered heavy losses in the war, eventually retreating a magical dimension called the Pantheon, leaving humans alone in a world soon to be ravaged by the Great Catastrophe.

As Clint desperately fought the empire's army, Janus found the instinct for him to merge once again with Rabist awakening within him. As the Empire grasped towards victory over Clint, its leader was compromised as Rabist raced towards Daetalus to become one with Janus yet again. At the same time, Dion, acting on his guilt for reviving Janus, enacted the final stage in his plan to destroy Janus.

For almost a year, Dion had searched for ways to defeat Janus, but the dark lord seemed unstoppable. The only human who had ever managed to defeat him had been Frey. Dion once again turned to Jin Dao, who used the forbidden art of the Glug monks managed to release Frey's soul from his sword, the Durandal. Together, Dion, Jin Dao, and the newly revived Frey attacked the Imperial Palace in the capitol city, hoping to destroy Janus once and for all. However, things did not go as planned.

Clint, knowing his army was about to lose against the forces led by Michael, supreme commander of the empire's military, turned to a man named Cornelius, who was leader of a shadow group called the Preying Blades. Cornelius transported Clint to Daetalus, where the leader of the Wild Lands would have a chance at defeating the Emperor himself.

The final party in this move, the same warriors who had fought Dion and the Elemental Lords, also made their way to the capitol. However, they allied themselves with Janus's closest advisers and military chiefs. Together, they hoped to save the world from Rabist.

As all three parties met in the palace grounds and prepared to battle each other, Rabist reached Janus, and the two of them united into Rabisat. For a moment, all seemed lost. However, Andrew, the newly appointed archmage of black magic, cast the spell handed down from archmage to archmage for thousands of years: The Archmage's Gambit. The spell placed a powerful seal on the magic of the planet. It seemed that with one spell, magic had disappeared, and with it Rabisat's unlimited power.

In the ensuing battle, the three groups killed Rabisat, ending the threat it possessed. However, there were heavy losses on all sides. Dion lost his life, and Clint, now the most pressing threat to the Empire, escaped. In addition, the Imperial Palace was destroyed, and with it the government of Daetalus. It seemed that the Empire itself was doomed to fall apart, as had Dingard and Saronia.

Act 3:

Weeks after the destruction of Rabisat, the military of Daetalus took control of the Empire. General Douglass, now supreme commander of the military, took measures to try and organize the remnants of the nation. Democracy was restored to Daetalus with an election, and it seemed that nations such as Sekiha and even the Wild Lands might find a place in the new political order of the mainland continent. There was even talk of reestablishing relations with the continent to the east. The people of Daetalus had gone through a lot, but they were inspired by the reemergence of the legendary hero Frey. It seemed as if peace might be restored. That was when the old gods made their sudden reappearance.

Andrew had saved Daetalus from Rabisat with the Archmage's Gambit. Without magic, Rabisat lost its power, and was then defeated. However, the spell also caused the Pantheon, the home of the gods, to fade away, destroying the peace that had existed between men and gods. Even worse, as humans struggled to adapt to the loss of magic, the gods took advantage of their advanced control over Spiritual Force, they set out to rebuild their own empire. Their first target was Daetalus.

However, with Frey's help, the military of Daetalus learned how to use the ancient technology hidden away in the depths of the ancient city, and erected a city-wide barrier just in time to save the city from the onslaught of the gods. Forced to rethink their strategy, most the gods departed for the eastern continent, hoping to conquer their powerful civilization before returning to deal with the threat of Daetalus. They left behind Nyx, the goddess of darkness, to wage war against Daetalus in their absence. Nyx quickly conquered the Wild Lands and began constructing a terrible weapon that she hoped would enable her to breach Daetalus's barrier.

In the meantime, Daetalus prepared for war, augmenting its military with the ancient technology of Daetalus, such as lancers, in preparation for an eventual all-out attack on Nyx's weapon before she can get a chance to use it.

In the midst of the war between human and god, demons have begun to rise again, taking their place as the servants and soldiers of the gods. Many fought in hopes of reclaiming their place as one of the major races of Vanda. Others simply serve out of a sense of duty to the gods, under whose leadership the demons had once prospered. The demons sent their best upper class warriors to fight with Nyx, and together they ravaged many of Daetalus's cities. Among them was the demon Zerazo, who swore revenge against the Kingdom of Sekiha.

The war against Nyx saw the loss of many innocents. The city of Kingston became the victim of Zerazo's wrath, as did Sekiha. Even worse, Clint reemerged with demon followers among his original army. It seemed that Daetalus was helpless against its enemies.

However, due to the aid of many skilled warriors, Daetalus defeated several of the upper class demons in a series of battles that bought the empire enough time to complete its own superweapon. Unfortunately, Nyx finished her Battle Fortress, a monstrous floating island, beforehand. Her first target: Clint's army. Clint soon found his entire force wiped out. With that, Nyx turned her sights on Daetalus. The time for a decisive battle had come.

Using its lancers and its superweapon, Daetalus successfully destroyed Nyx's Battle Fortress and forced the goddess herself to retreat. In addition, the summoner known as Nieve turned Nyx's own servants against her. The goddess had suffered a major blow to her ability to continue fighting.

Soon afterward, the demons serving under Nyx broke off all ties with the goddess and returned to their northern kingdom. Around this time, Lucifer, the true demon lord, returned to his throne in Pandemonium. The demons, it seemed, would rise once again, this time against the gods.

However, the demons had not forgotten the Great War they had fought against humans so many centuries ago. Zerazo, one of the most powerful upper class demons, continued to wage war against his enemies, making relentless attacks against the Eastern Trade Empire. In a major battle, the city of Venice was ravaged by his assault.

At the same time, the triumphant Daetalus erupted into a state of civil war between the Imperial Way and the Control Faction. With the most powerful nation on Laurasia undermined, the Syndicate Oligarchs of the Eastern Trade Empire began to look elsewhere for an end to the war. The most powerful oligarch, a man named Blackie, began seeking a truce with the gods in hopes of ending the war as quickly as possible.

Unknown to these parties, the dark lord Janus had returned, hoping to once more take physical form. No one knows what his plans for the future may be, but it will almost certainly shape the fates of many...
