The Demonic Council

Hades, after successfully leading Daetalus onto a path towards tyranny, returns to Pandemonium a hero. Not only has he finally undone the kingdom of Daetalus, sworn enemy of Pandemonium, and their democratic government, but he has regained his full power as god demon. Demons from all around the world return to their home in Pandemonium and gather together in enormous crowds. Debates, choirs, industry: all of these things experience a sudden revival in the festivities. The prince of darkness has returned, and he is ready to lead them into a new age. The only question is how will the demons with their war against both gods and man? Both wars, they agree, are important to demos ever feeling fulfilled.

Hades learns the news of Cornelius's death. Hades laments the loss of Cornelius, his steward of Pandemonium, but decides to carry on with the council. Moloch, Belial, and Mammon return shortly after Hades, having been scattered to the four corners of Vanda, to take part in the council. They each present their own plans. Moloch, strongest among demons, petitions for open war against the gods. Belial, spirit of sloth, argues that their home on the northern continent will remain unscathed by the conflict between gods and men. Mammon, as the most persuasive demon, argues that, rather than rush to war, demonkind should band together and build up Pandemonium into a kingdom unrivaled in Vanda. Doing so, he claims, would stave off any potential attack, as neither gods nor man would risk catastrophic war with an empowered demon kingdom.

Mammon's argument wins the most ground, tapping into a regained spirit of demon unity among tribes. However, Hades then opens the floor to any who would present an argument. This will be the chance for the members of the group to speak up (they could, of course, either agree with Mammon, Moloch, or Belial as they give THEIR arguments). I think that someone like Michael would also find it ironic that Hades inspires a greater sense of democracy than the leaders of Daetalus.

I imagine that Leareth, Azael, and some of the others would speak. In addition, we have a few things we can do with this. First, it can pull the Vittores into the conflict completely. No holding back. They are the keepers of the Oeshi, and they would be invited to the council as well, with maybe Zephyrus or uh...forget which god was responsible for pulling them together...would represent them. Or maybe Bernard.

Second, this is a chance to add some context to the relationship between Azael and Polychrome. Basically, I imagine that having been a "young love" sort of thing, long ago, and that it was the most passionate connection either of them ever made with another living being.

Each character, basically, will have a chance to present their views on the war (RP Plot) up to this point and make a decision on what to do (outside and inside). Each character has a voice and a list of experiences to bring to the table, and they will each be recognized. And, well, Hades pretty much forces them to, given that he controls both the demon kingdom and much of Daetalus.

Finally, this is a chance to propel the RP forward. I believe I will NOT change the magic system as I originally planned. We will simply tone down the SUPPOSED uberness of the fights by putting them in context. Creating a hierarchy of power through this demon council will allow us to do that without making it feel forced. The seal on magic will still be broken, but it will not make SF wither. Instead, magic will rejuvenate monsters, plantlife, and the land instead of becoming overly abundant as it was before. Basically, the Archmage's Gambit ends up restoring balance to the world's magic supply, more or less putting characters on even enough ground without undoing the dynamics of the RP's combat established up to this point.

Let me know what you think.

Sounds interesting. I can't help but think Zerazo should be involved somehow...he's well on his way to being his own(abet minor) faction(I can't see him staying allied with the gods much longer.), and it'd be interesting to see him in a scenario where he's actually talking with his enemies(Bernard, mostly), rather then trying to kill them(or them trying to kill him)

Forgot to mention this, but Andrew and Milly HAVE to go to this. Hades explains that it has been a tradition to balance the demonic councils with the presence of an archmage of black magic and an archmage of white magic. This is a symbolic gesture of unity. Those two titles are also pretty much the only human ones recognized by demonkind anymore.

Hades will also call on Michael to come, as Hades believes Michael will one day come to rule over Daetalus. It won't be as pushy an invitation, but Michael won't be all that unpopular after he breaks the seal on magic (many demons, whose lives are saved by it, thank him for it). Same with Vergel. Hades, at his heart, wants to avoid a full war between humans and demons simply because he has seen that they have much to offer each other. thus, he invites humans he believes will be received well.

Then, however, he extends his invitation to Mizu as queen of Sekiha; albeit, reluctantly, as many tensions still exist between demons and Sekiha.

Frey would be the only one explicitly NOT invited. His shame would be too great for him to accept the invitation anyway.

Zerazo should definitely be involved. I mean, even he'd look up to Lucifer/Hades. The guy is an inspiration to all demons after his stand against the rest of the gods (their defeat meant nothing after Hades inspired them to become their own nation). Demons are, basically, fallen angels who have become their own group of races.

Well, Mizu is also the queen of Sekiha, so that'd also be a reason for her to go. Sekiha has always been very anti-demon(having Sol certainly hasn't helped this), but a new leader could greatly improve relations, as well as give some insight to just what being queen means for Mizu(I've kinda neglected it a bit, but her struggle to balance being a queen while not repeating Izuno's mistakes could be a very interesting thing). Also, she might be interested in Hades....if he has the powers typically associated to him in media, she might pester him over whether he has any of her dead loved one's(Izuno, her dead lover I can't remember the name of, or perhaps even Yuki, Mizu's mother) souls.

Well, with Hades being Lucifer, this'll mean Leareth will be hesitant to go the Northern Continent. After what he had done to him, and every other demon, he isn't sure that any of them would trust him. It isn't everyday that you teach the gods how to essentially put a leash on any demon they desire. He knows most of demonkind hates him, for after his betrayal they ostracized him from the community(even though the actual details are known only to himself and Lucifer, maybe a few others as well).

Anyways, I'll have to give more thought to this. For some reason, I'm not able to actively call up much in the way of thoughts. XD

Hades is going to invite Leareth in my next post of him, though. He believes that Leareth must come, if not in order to give the angel a chance to rid himself of the stigma he has among demons, but to rid demons of unnecessary grudges that may weigh down the alliances they will have to form to fight the gods.

That'll work...though I'm a bit shocked considering how some of the demons view Andrew.

If Michael is looking for recruits to help him overthrow the generals of Daetalus, then accepting the invitation would be a great way to make some allies.
Go, into the sand, and the dust, and the sky
Go now, there is no better plan than to do or to die
Free me, pray to the fayth in face of the light
Feed me, fill me with sin, and get ready to fight
