6-0 down after 72mins, quite brutal performance from us tonight, We can't say this type of result has not been on the cards, To go into the game against the best team in the world and stand like dummies really is a disgrace, I know it's the mighty Barca. But to make endless mistakes and give away possesion of the ball time and time again is just brutal in my opinion. I know we had nothing to play for but pride going into this, But that pride is well and truly shatterd. :( :( :(

Shocking stuff. Embarrassing, and it has to be said, worse than any Celtic performance I have ever witnessed, and I include Artmedia in that.

This was the world stage, and we looked like schoolboys out there.

I didn't think Barcelona were that great, I thought we were shocking in terms of our commitment, technique, energy and emotion. Tactically we were naive and from the point of view of footballing basics, we were well worth the hammering.

Where to start? There are only two players who actually looked like they were at the races today, the same two who have been a cut above this season, van Dijk and Lustig, the rest just looked like fish out of water. What on earth were the midfield supposed to be doing? Basic stuff, one was pressing at a time, leaving their efforts utterly pointless.

Xavi alone probably made more passes than the entire Celtic team, and this is not Xavi from a few seasons ago, when he was at his prime, this is the more subdued version. Do we not know the basics of the game? It isn't just the manager, it is the players on the park who should be able to adapt to what is happening. Not a braincell in that midfield seemed to be working out there.

I know this sounds harsh, and it isn't an overreaction as far as I am concerned, but that midfield did nothing today. Brown was a non entity, Ledley only slightly better and the less said about Biton, the better, all the hopes being pinned on a guy who has had three quarters of a good game for Celtic all season (in a game where we rollercoasted Hearts 7-0) should now be out firmly to bed, the boy has plenty to learn about the game.

So many Celtic fans will tell you the same thing, keep the ball in Europe and things will be OK, we were unlucky in the San Siro, coped relatively well at Celtic Park against Ajax (a deserved win) and then the wheels fell off after that, poor beyond belief in the first half in Amsterdam, toothless while hosting Milan, and then that debacle.

This might be the worst week I can remember in my time following Celtic, European football gone for the season, and the club mismanaging the whole Green Brigade situation (need we remind the PLC that these fans, whatever their politics are part of the club  ).

All this on the back of two terrific domestic performances. Only Celtic can self destruct in this manner, falling apart at the seams with the world looking on. I don't know who is making the decisions at the club, but when the paint dries, they are going to be seen as the shower of short sighted, money focused people they are, custodians of a team that has been (visibly) gone backwards on the biggest stage of them all and alienated the best off field thing that has happened in British football of late, the Green Brigade.

All that said, it was what happened on the park that was poor. Apologies should be forthcoming for that performance.

6 games, one goal from open play.

During the CL anthem at the beginning of the game, there was a banner visible saying something to the effect of "we want to vote" presumably in reference to the referendum to be held regarding Catalan independence.

Is this political? I think this is the textbook definition of a political statement. I thought this sort of thing was banned by UEFA? Will they now issue a fine to Barcelona FC for the banner?

I don't think it is right that they do, but honestly, when more than one person is in a room, there are politics, so how do UEFA and the SPL and Celtic, for that matter, think that nothing of that will transfer from the support at a game of football. I am sick to death of this nonsensical argument regarding political expression at football games, the game is all about passion and belief and togetherness.

We had applause for Mandela, cancellation of games for the death of Diana, the minutes silence for the poppy thing, all sanctioned by the powers that be but as soon as Drogba and Eboue have tshirts on celebrating Mandela, they are fined, as soon as there is a smidgeon of intelligent political comment (see the Sands/Wallace) banner, the GB are castigated. This double standard is fast becoming nonsensical and unworkable. A minutes silence for the 3000 that died on 11 September 2001, not a thing for the million Iraqi children that died from sanctions... someone should remind FIFA and UEFA and all of these footballing bodies that this is a world game, and the world is made up of many different peoples with different cultures who value different things, some of whom actually feel strongly about where they are from, geographically and culturally.

I will go so far as to say, if TFOD (in their current zombie incarnation) want to celebrate British soldiers then let them, if that is what makes them culturally tick then they will. If they call for blood though.... then a line has been crossed.

Rant, I know, but when I saw that banner before kick off it got me thinking. Lawwell should, by rights complain to UEFA about it.
