Well what's to say another night of awful tactics and poor squad selection. A very poor first leg result against a very poor team. 2-0 to the team from Borat land. Mr Lennon got it all wrong tonight, No plan B and no strikers. If he bows out in the second leg at home then he needs his ball's nipped..... Just so angry right now....

First of all, let's get this out of the way, Celtic looked comfortable for most of that game and were, to some extent, victims of Karagandy's luck. That is about as positive as this is going to get. Forget about what the home side did. They are a one dimensional, though effective side who know how to maximise their resources. They ran all day, they never pretended to be anything than they are. The ran their set piece drills and asked a few questions, most of which Celtic had an answer to. Fair play to them for their discipline and their effort, which alone was worthy of the win today. As for Celtic, it isn't the end of the world, we know who the better footballing team was out there today but this was all about being clinical. All along we have been talking about instinctive goalscorers and the lack of them at Celtic, and today, it showed, and showed in spades. The James Forrest chance showed it all. A winger's response to an opportunity that should have resulted in a precious away goal. I don't blame the wee man, he did his best, but when it comes down to it, there should be someone on the field who is capable in the box of making a difference and in this squad there is no one that springs to mind. The real problem for me today was the centre of midfield. It was flat, ponderous and lacked imagination. Commons had the right idea in the first half, when they give you that much possession and are not interested in playing in the midfield then shoot, and shoot from distance a lot. Commons hit the bar when he did and fair play to him for making the effort. Celtic Park will be another matter. This game reminded me so much of Artmedia it was scary, and to see WGS and Sutton sitting in the studio, I had to think the last time they were involved in an away qualifier that Celtic crumbled in was that night against Artmedia. The uneasy feeling never went away. I would hope that Celtic understand the need for a proper striker for the return on Wednesday week. Also thought van Dijk looks a player. Work to be done but the potential is all there.
