Sunday's Scottish Cup semi-final against Celtic will come too soon for Dundee United striker Johnny Russell despite his return to training.
Defenders Brian McLean and Keith Watson are expected to shake off knocks.
Celtic have Victor Wanyama available after his successful appeal against a red card picked up on league duty.
Fellow midfielder Kris Commons is an injury doubt, but Scott Brown and Lassad Nouioui are both still out and James Forrest a severe doubt.

Armstrong is vying for a starting place in United's midfield
However, defenders Mikael Lustig and Adam Matthews have both been passed fit.
Celtic go into the game on the back of a 3-0 win over Hibernian, who are involved in the other semi-final against Falkirk, to take the Glasgow side to within a point of retaining the Scottish Premier League title.
But much has been made this week of their recent vulnerability at the national stadium, with Neil Lennon's side having lost on their last three visits to Hampden.
A 1-0 Scottish Communities League Cup final defeat by Kilmarnock last season was followed by a 2-1 loss to Hearts at the same stage of this competition.
Celtic also lost 3-2 to St Mirren in this term's League Cup semi-finals.
They survived an early scare in the fourth round of this season's Scottish Cup, when they were held 1-1 at home to Second Division Arbroath before scraping through by a single goal at Gayfield.
Celtic went on to ease aside First Division outfit Raith Rovers in Kirkcaldy before another away victory, gaining revenge on SPL rivals St Mirren.
United put a combined eight goals without reply past Second Division side Stranraer then Third Division leaders Rangers before edging out city rivals Dundee in the quarter-finals.
However, they have conceded 10 in their last two meetings with Celtic, including a 6-2 defeat after present manager Jackie McNamara took over from Peter Houston.
United have yet to defeat Celtic this season, the opening league game at Tannadice having been drawn, while the Tangerines have failed to beat the Glasgow side in nine Scottish Cup meetings since their last victory in 1981.
Their cause is not helped by the absence of Scotland international Johnny Russell, who had been hoping to make what would have been a remarkable early recovery from a leg break.
The 23-year-old, who suffered a fractured fibula against Inverness Caledonian Thistle at the end of February, has returned to training, but the United medical team say he is not ready for even a place on the bench.
However, the introduction of former Celtic defender McNamara in February has revitalised United's season and they have gone eight games without defeat since that heavy reverse at Celtic Park.
That culminated in Rory Boulding's 93rd-minute winner against Aberdeen last weekend, ensuring that they qualified for the top six of the SPL in dramatic fashion.
Dundee United midfielder Stuart Armstrong : "Making the top six was the perfect way to prepare for Celtic in a big semi-final.
"It's given us a lot of our belief back. Now we're hoping to take that into Sunday.
"There's a confidence about the boys that I have noticed since Jackie came in. Everyone has been given a fresh start.
"Was a change of leadership needed at that point? Perhaps. I've got a lot of respect for Peter Houston - he gave me my chance here, so I've only got good things to say about him.
"But maybe a fresh start was what the club needed and now everyone is firing off that."
Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley : "We just need to go out there and play like we did on Saturday - I thought we were fantastic.
"Hopefully, we can get over the run at Hampden - we haven't played too well there.
"We are frustrated and have looked at things, in the way we play and preparation.
"But preparation has been fine - we do exactly the same thing every week and we have done exactly the same thing in the Champions League.
"So it's not preparation, it's just the way we have played.
"We just need to work harder as a team and be solid.
"We have had a couple of meetings and looked at the shape and hopefully we can change it for Sunday.
"We need to go straight from the whistle and get at Dundee United and work hard as a team."

Really looking forward to this, Hampden should be rocking, good competition, semi final, one less evil person about in the world etc.

I hope we go in full strength and play with good pace and energy from the off and get this thing done and dusted by half time. The league is all but won so I think the team owe this trophy to the support, and to win in style at that. This season has been marked by plenty of games that there seems to have been little urgency to win (thanks to the nature of the league), so, it is about time we had a return to a purposeful performance. :thumb up:

Although Stokes played well last week, I would prefer to see Samaras starting instead of him this time round, and a midfield of Wanyama, Kayal and Ledley should provide the right basis for the control of the game.

Dundee Utd and McNamara will have learned from their previous game at Celtic Park and will come with something different, especially in the wide areas, so the fullbacks for us will be key.

Come on Celtic, do us proud. :huddle:

Brilliant entertainment and a super watch. Well played to both sides who were both worthy of getting something out of the game.

All that said, I thought the errors that were evident were not only by the players but also by the manager who, I thought, got the setup wrong today. Fortunately, he changed things and we saw a far more solid pairing at the back with Mulgrew and Wilson by the end. I am far happier with Mulgrew in there at the moment as Ambrose looks to be a bit of a nightmare. I hope it is just a former thing and trust me will develop over time. Having Mulgrew at centre half also gives him more time for distribution which is his big weakness when he plays in midfield. Having him drive forward adds another dimension.

Wanyama and Kayal will both be big misses for the final, time for others to show their quality in a showcase game.

The substitute bench was full of quality and that was the difference. Got to love the Samaras cameo and that must have been so demoralising for the Dundee United players to see.

Happy to be in the final and we'll done to Commons and Stokes in particular, let's not forget Izaguirre who looked the part defensively today. :thumb up:
