So then it's time to solve a bit of Pride tonight, am dreaming of a 0-2 but can't see it, But no matter what I'm proud of Lenny and the Bohys, we came through a group of death with fantastic results when were given no chance at all. We have met or goal in reaching the last 16..... :ynwa:

A good solid performance and restore a bit of pride tonight, will do the trick. Good luck Lenny and the Bohys tonight, We will be right behind yous as always.

Striker Tony Watt is unavailable for Celtic's Champions League last-16 second leg against Juventus in Turin.
The teenager suffered a bruised foot in training on Sunday and did not travel with the squad as they left for Turin on Tuesday morning.
He joins Scott Brown and Mikael Lustig on the injury list, but Charlie Mulgrew travelled to Italy after missing three games with a muscle problem.
Juventus team news to follow.
Provisional Celtic squad: Forster, Matthews, Izaguirre, Wilson, Rogne, Ambrose, Mulgrew, Kayal, Forrest, McGeouch, Ledley, Wanyama, Commons, Hooper, Samaras, Stokes, Miku, Lassad, Zaluska.

So we go again against the side that beat us 3-0 a few weeks ago.

I will say this, the scoreline flattered them, but they are a totally different prospect at home I am reliably informed. Nothing to lose, Samaras, Hooper and Forrest must start (my first choice front 3 for games in Europe), there is the possibility of a central midfield trio of Ledley, Kayal and Wanyama (good combination in my book) and the central defence could be the best combination we have at the moment, Ambrose and Wilson. I would play Mulgrew at left back (if fit) and Matthews at right back (Lustig being injured and all) and, of course, Forster in goal.

The right team for the occasion and hopefully they can get something early and see what happens.

All that said, Lennon will probably go with an entirely different eleven.

Come on Celtic, if you must bow out, then do so in style. :ynwa: :scarf: :huddle:

We played well last night, And the score over to legs did flatter Juventus. The only thing that frustrates me about us in Europe is how poor the goals are that we conceded, Those 2 goals again last night were really awful defending from out point of view, you could see the frustration on Lenny's face.

It's over for another season, so let's move on and concentrate on winning the double. And maybe we might get some decent centre backs in during the summer window..

First off, credit where it is due, to this young, inexperienced side, assembled for a fraction of the cost of every other team in the round of 16 for getting to where it did. At the end of the day, although it is always gutting to lose a game like this, and by such an aggregate scoreline, we never looked out of place at the top table and everyone concerned has to be applauded for bring so much enthusiasm, dig, and drive to Europe's premier tournament.

The support as well are deserving of every accolade heaped on them for being exemplary ambassadors for the Scottish game.

All that out of the way, although we lost 5-0 over the two legs, there was no way near that gulf between the sides. Celtic had 32 shots on goal in the two games, which is staggering, but which also tells a big chunk of the story.

The difference was at either end of the pitch. I thought we matched them well in both games in midfield, and don't think another team has dominated that area against them in a long while in Turin but the extremes of the pitch were another issue. Juventus were masters of the defensive game yesterday, doing what they needed to ease through the tie and there is a huge lesson in this for us. The organisation of the entire team was excellent, ceding possession to a Celtic side who simply found it too hard to open them up. At this level, small margins is all it takes and we came up short when it mattered.

Compare and contrast to Celtic. Conceding within a few minutes of first leg meant we got picked off for the other 2 goals to kill the tie. All three of the goals, completely avoidable and down to individual errors. In Turin, same story for the first goal, and the fault, should there be any lies at the feet of Hooper and Forster. Basic errors, don't give the ball away while facing your own goal and parry the ball to the side of the goal.

Their second goal was a bit of class from Pirlo but I would like to see Izaguirre in a better position. If he is going to drop deeper then he must make the clearance, simple as that. Of course the tie was already dead by then but there you go. Defending is an art and sadly, we don't seem to have gotten past crayon drawings yet. Individual errors are always going to be made but that is where the cohesiveness of the defensive unit will bail you out. Against quality opposition it will get punished time and time again.

I was pleased with the contributions of both Ledley and Kayal though, I think they make a very solid combination in the centre of the field but disappointed with Mulgrew who, for me, shouldn't be playing in midfield at all, and the same goes for Ambrose (who doesn't impress me at right back either). Ball retention is everything and some of the passes were awful. It isn't always bad to play a sideways pass if it means possession is retained but there was plenty of immaturity about the team over the two legs with players feeling they had to play a forward pass which eventually led to the ball being turned over to Juventus, who can hurt you.

Another plus point was the performance of Kelvin Wilson who has really impressed me this season. I have never seen a player advance so much in such a short space of time. He looks composed and has to pace to get him out of trouble as well.

Sadly, I can't see many of these players stay on for another go at this with Celtic, so we will likely see a completely different side enter this tournament next year, and we will be sitting here talking about learning curves and inexperienced footballers all over again.

Such is the way of our current predicament. Hope we keep as many of them as possible (as well as the manager).

:scarf:

Now just give us a double to cheer about please. :ynwa: :huddle: :scarf:
