First of all, well done on playing badly and still getting the points. For me, the whole problem today was the way in which we started tactically. I have said it so many times I am almost sick of it myself, but the central pairing cannot be Donati AND Hartley, unless we are playing a midfield 5. This is no slight on either of the players, it is merely a reflection of the combination of the two in the same side. Both like to play in front of their centre halves and it was obvious there were times when we were going back to John Barnes infamous 4-2-2-2 system, which works for Brazil and that is about it (when they had fullbacks of the calibre of Roberto Carlos and Cafu in their primes). At the end of the day, if you do not pose the opposition a threat running at you through the middle, then the ball will come back onto your defence and that is exactly what happened yet again today. Hamilton deserved a point, we hardly tested their keeper. The penalty should have never been (though the red card was the right decision) and, until the last 20 minutes I think Cerny had a save to make and that was about it. We all know that Celtic are capable of superb flowing football, even against sides who set up tactically well (as Hamilton did today) but our shape was all wrong from the off. I don't blame the players for this one, I thought they did well to keep going, but I would really like if WGS followed a few basic guidelines. Firstly, play Scott Brown in his best position, in the centre and second, play either Donati or Hartley, not both. Both occupy the same position and this is why we are always slow getting forward, one of the strikers has to drop deep to fill the chasm and then the only option they have is back to Donati or Hartley. Makes for slow, predictable stuff and is easy to defend against for most sides. Thought Robson turned the game for us, but that was an easy decision to make once we were playing against 10 men. On the plus side, I thought McManus was very good, Hartley's goal was a peach (beautiful from both Hartley and Brown), we scored a penalty (give them to Naka forever), we won and are three points clear. Good habit to have and a good lesson in case anyone thought this was getting too easy. Bring on St. Mirren. :celtic: |

I`m not biased. I don`t care who beats Rangers It is up to us, to everyone at Celtic Park, to build up our own legends. We don’t want to live with history, to be compared with legends from the past. We must make new legends." Jock Stein | |

Good win and all that, but what an utter shite performance. :snooze: And I tell you, for a former midfielder, Strachan doesnae have the first clue in how to set up the midfield properly. The amount of times he get's the middle two combination wrong is fecking scrary. And what about Scott brown? Finally comes into a great vein fo form, in his natural position and what does the genius do? That's right, shunt him out on the right, for two guys less mobile than David Murray. Keep that up and we will deffo start to drop points. Do that against the huns and well...... |

10 wins in a row, and only 2 poor performances in that period. I'll take that. Noticed the stats show we had 9 shots on target...never seemed that way... |
