Donati imo has many people to prove wrong and maybe just maybe, he has finally woken up to the possibility of buckling down and getting himself back in the plans. It is the only way he will earn a decent contract with his present employers or indeed new suitors in January. What may have been plausable is that he struggled with the language, culture and bloody weather! I would give him the next seven weeks to prove his eagerness and fitness before throwing away. The player we saw early doors was as good as Crosas or Robson imo, and I would hate to see him throw away a career at CP and indeed would hate it even more to see us let him go for a paltry £1m then go onto bigger things. True, he would struggle to fit into plans right now, but he has shown desire to get back into the fold through inclusion on the bench and don`t be too surprised if he starts games to give Hartley a break. A player like Donati should be running the show v your Falkirk`s, Killie`s etc and should be more than capable of handling Castle Greyskull imo. Time to show it Massimo. What do you think. Please keep this informative and no swiping at each other. Like Mainser, I can`t stand the kissing and making up! :take-a-bow: |

I think with players like Donati, it is always difficult to justify their presence around the squad on the whole. There is no doubt he has ability, but he really needs a position in the first team on a regular basis. From a psychological standpoint, it must be that moment of truth for him in terms of his career. From being as highly rated, albeit from a potential standpoint (I read somewhere he is the highest ever capped player at Italian U-21 level), to having huge sums of money paid for him, he is at the point of his career where all of that needs to be realised and he can have a regular game at a good level (in this case the CL). I think there is no doubt, in my mind at least, that he is good enough, his start at the club indicated that, but, at the end of the day, is the SPL the best place for him? I am not so sure it is. Added to that, we have a manager who is still in doubt over his best central midfield pairing and for that, it will be players who need stability that suffer. With all players who play in the centre and pull strings, you need consistency of selection around you and in the case of Donati, whether he can justify being picked in front of others on a regular basis is doubtful. I get the impression he is a real confidence player as well. I think his game does suffer from some of the impatience he gets coming from the stands at CP and we have been painted into that corner where it will be something special from somewhere that will change things. Celtic, at this moment in time (for you Caesar ;)), is no place for slow starters, such is the impatience with the side, and many will not give him the luxury of time. For me though, he can keep the ball (most of the time), and can keep it better than Hartley and Robson, but his energy levels are nowhere near those of Robson certainly. As for Hartley, I think he should be a squad player and have never thought he was good enough to play for Celtic. A handful of good games here and there and losing yards of pace as time goes on. For me then, I would love if he stayed and was more involved, but financial pragmatism means he will be away at the first sign of someone waving some cash at the club for him. Ideally, we need to be looking at players like him, midfielders who can keep the ball, if we are to progress. |

hmmm Donati, do we stick or do we twist, it's a tough one, because up untill Kilmarnock a fortnight ago, i was leading the way to see him sent packing but apart from one or two of his signature hollywood passes that night, he was actually immense imo, and probably as good as we've seen of him in a celtic shirt, so he's proved he's got it in him to play, and maybe he's twigged as to what he needs to be doing, so i think it's only fair that he gets some more games to give us a better idea as to how he's going to go in the future, but can we risk him slipping back to his old ways, i dont know, this one is a conundrum for me  |

Never make it as a regular. His track record proves it. If we can find a buyer, get shot at the end of the season. |

He likes easy games like the one the other evening. Mo-Do has a lot more to prove if he is not to be Sampdoria or Atalanta bound in the summer. |

As the season progresses, I think you will see WGS employing Donati more and more to deputise for Robson and more so Hartley. The toil and grit of the Winter games will take it`s toll on the aforementioned and someone like Massimo could well be the ticket to an injection of balance in the team when it gets frantic. There is no excuse. Donati is a far better player than he has suggested imo. |

I agree and that is the most frustrating thing about him. |

Real shame there as I thought he was hitting a wee bit of form. Just the wrong time for him, sort of like the timing of the Crosas injury as well. Oh well, lets see how much depth we have. |

Shame to see him injured especially at a time when we are desperate for bodies. Doesn't change my opinion of him though. |

These injuries have actually worked for us imo. We have had more out of the regulars because we have had to! The young kids have done well along with Skippy and when all fit and well, we may well have three or four "new" signings in Jan, Aiden, Crosas, Donati. |
