Disappointed with the result, but proud of the players - I don't
think I've ever seen a Celtic team that fought so hard to get a
victory !

Pitch invader came from the same place as they always do, JS - North Stand corner. Guy practically strolled onto the park. Don't know whats coming to us for that.

First half we were great, second half we tired badly from chasing the ball. Sheridan and Skippy were flat out by the time they were taken off.

Re. the goal, sat right behind it, the swerve was severe and the spin had a big say in where it went after it hit Boruc, who made a really good save initially. Again though we are very slow to react to second balls in our box. Apparatnly Berba was offside again - quelle suprise.

Referee started out quite promising then descended into what we have come to expect. How Rafael and Ronaldo got away uncarded is a mystery.

The atmosphere was good, lifted enormously by the early goal. Man U fans were sat on their hands most of the night, hardly heard a peep. When they did it was to try and get a rise out of us, I'm sure their catholic followers found it as amusing as we did.

They are scum and if there are still Celtic fans that think otherwise they should go and follow Manure instead.

FTP indeed.

Please tell me I just read that wrong.

Another fucking pitch invader????????

Should be drowned in a dirty puddle.

Stupid bastard! I shouted out to the prick, get the hell out of Glasgow or you're dead! :yikes: Couldn't help myself though, pricks like that should be snapped in two!

Anyhoo, on to the match, nothing sums it up better for me than the match report in the fishal site:

But this was an incredibly brave display from a Celtic side decimated by injury and the Hoops fans rose to hail the performance.

They were immense tonight. There is no one who has anything to be ashamed of, I love them all, I am proud of them all. Gutted for them losing the goal late on. :( But we can still go through. :) If Man Spew beat Villareal and we beat Aalborg and then we beat Villareal at home by at least two goals, we will be in the last 16! :thumbs.up: :thumbs.up: :thumbs.up:

I don't normally have a lack of confidence or lack or ambition when it comes to 'ra tic, but I dearly hope we enter the Yoofuckup rather than the last 16.

We'd only have one tie left in the last 16 whereas we could potentially go on a run in the 'diddy cup'.

I just can't get past the belief that we belong in the CL. I was convinced of it before tonight's game but all tonight's game has done has convinced me even more.

I'd rather get to the last 16. We ran AC Milan close the year before last, Barca, well they were on another planet but they still needed to score three goals to beat us at CP. I think it's only a matter of time before we win a last 16 tie, I really do. Milan was as close as we've come but we will have learned a lot from getting there twice, I really want another 3IAR!

This is the first season since our first campaign with Martin, that I honestly feel like we don't belong there.

Our players have tremendous fight, heart, spirit, fitness etc. However, we lack real quality and presently I don't think we are good enough for the last 16.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice feeling being there and being up against the best, but I think we are more a Uefa Cup team and would have a better chance flourishing there.

Let's face it, it is our only chance and it's a remote one at that, of ever winning another European trophy.

We have all the attributes that have got us to the last 16 in the last two seasons though. WGS said himself, technically we are miles away from Man United and their likes but we make up for that by never saying die, by punching above our weight and really competing with teams that, on paper, we shouldn't be anywhere near competing with. So we deserve to be there and we belong there for those reasons.

Add to that, the playing field between us and other teams in the CL is not level thanks to the disparity in finances, the CL is the only way we are going to make serious money! We won't be able to spend £30m or anything like on a single player the way the likes of United can but by God we'll make sure we get a wedge of the money rather than it all going to the richer clubs.

I still believe we'll win a European trophy in my lifetime. I thought we were going to do it in Seville :( but it wasn't to be. But the thing that really staggers me is that, eight years before we were competing in that European final, we were getting beat by merde like Partick Thistle at home. Eight years! We managed to travel a long, long way in a staggeringly short space of time. Now, I'm only 29, well nearly 30 so who knows where we'll be in another eight years? We might have got to, even won another UEFA Cup final or even progressed closer to the CL final, Porto could do it, no reason a team with our resources couldn't manage it some day. Yes the CL is weighted in favour of the richer leagues but we need to be in there giving as many bloody noses as we can and who knows where it will lead?

This is the first season since our first campaign with Martin, that I honestly feel like we don't belong there.

Our players have tremendous fight, heart, spirit, fitness etc.  However, we lack real quality and presently I don't think we are good enough for the last 16.

I would go along with that and its not meant as a slur, simply fact.

There are a lot of mediocre players in our side when it comes to the CL, or as Strachan himself says 'we're a million miles away' from the top tier teams. Tonight is the best we can hope for against them, get the crowd behind us, get in their faces and more often than not we get a result.

When teams take it up a level like Barca last year or United in the second half tonight, it really shows up our deficincies and our inability to keep the ball for more than three passes under pressure. Again, thats nothing to be too ashamed about. Guys like Robson, Hartley etc give you plenty of fight and heart and what you expect them to do but they just cant live with top players. Last 16 this year would probably see us turn in a similair performance at home and we'd get turned over away - so the Yoofa cup is appealing as it might give us a chance to stay in Europe a bit longer.

All efforts should be on beating Aalborg and putting this fecking away day saga to bed. If United beat VR then I honestly wouldn't put it past us to qualify again but the away win is of paramount importance.

Lets just hope we're not forced to play out our final game in front of no fans.

Thought I'd add, game was slightly spoiled for me by the single celled organism who took his seat next to me.

If anyone was in the LL lower tonight, around the middle of the goal, you could not have missed him. A complete and utter moron of a man with the mental age of a six year old. Had an adoring audience of about three 12 year olds who lapped up everything he did and then strangely left with him.

Being drunk at the game is one thing, I too enjoy the odd sherry at Christmas, but these guys shouldn't get in or at least be allowed to sit next to me. Hell is other people.

Anyway, he had the audacity to try and make a formal complaint to the steward about United fans singing, although he probably let himself down by calling the steward a 'cunt' for not taking it seriously. If your complaining about offensive language that aint gonna aid you. The rest of the night was just your usual hilarity, 'I hate Corrie, Corries shite. I love Brookside and then a genuine attempt, genuine, to get Rooneys attention whilst he was warming up, guys about 40 rows up. Gave up after calling out his name 30 times, it seems the highly classified information he had to convey was his burd had a big nose but he'd shag her anyway.

Quite.

We have all the attributes that have got us to the last 16 in the last two seasons though.

Problem is Rosie, this seasons team isn't as strong as the last two seasons teams.

We haven't invested significantly enough to continue that process of improving each and every season. Instead we have remained static and indeed in some cases backwards. I'm not the only one who thinks this. There are numerous ex-Celts who feel this way.

Like Lubo says, it's not a slur, just fact. Well, actually it is a slur on those who run the club.

We can all dream about another European final, but it will never happen unless the squad is invested in.

And it will never happen in the CL.
