Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has been voted Clydesdale Bank Premier

Brown, 23 joined Celtic from Hibernian last May for a record fee
between two Scottish clubs believed to be in the region of £4.4m.

He scored twice during October as Celtic continued their winning
streak in the SPL, including a late strike against his former side.

Brown has also featured regularly in the Scotland squad with 13 full
            caps.

player of the month brown praises team-mates
Paul Cuddihy

SCOTT Brown is the worthy winner of the Clydesdale Bank Player of the Month Award for October.

And while the Celtic midfielder is pleased to have received the honour, he knows that it will count for little come the end of the season if the Hoops have not won the league title for a fourth consecutive season.

He also acknowledges that individual awards are only won due to the contribution of everyone in the squad and he explained that his Player of the Month accolade is in recognition for Celtic’s impressive run of form throughout the past month.

“The whole team is playing well, it’s not just me,” the Celtic midfielder said. “And you can see that in the last four or five performances we’ve been scoring goals and creating chances, and that’s good for any team.

“The award’s not just to do with me, it’s to do with the 11 people who go out on the park. If one person’s playing well, that’s great, but if we’ve got 10 or 11 players playing well constantly, that’s a bonus.”

And nowhere has Brown’s contribution within an impressive Hoops line-up been more evident than in Celtic’s third goal against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park on Wednesday.

The Scottish internationalist was central to the whole move, which was a great team goal, finished off in style by Aiden McGeady.

“We weren’t the tallest team during the week,” Brown said, “but we managed to keep the ball well.

“We’ve got a lot of fitness, we’re very sharp, we keep the ball and move it about very well and we created the chances, and it was a good move, which Aiden finished off.”

It was Brown’s turn to be creator after two goals in consecutive games, and he’s looking to add to his goals tally in the weeks and months ahead.

“I’ve been getting forward a wee bit more in the last few games and hitting the target has always been what I’ve been willing to do,” he explained.

“I got a goal against Inverness and then against Hibs last weekend, which was good, but we just need to get back down to earth and go and play Hearts and see if we can go and win that game.

“Tynecastle has always been a hard place for me, with Hibs before and now with Celtic. It’s always a good atmosphere and Hearts always seem to be up for it.

“I just relish playing football every week and I’m enjoying my football just now so it’s all good.”

Much improved this season and really pleasing that this has come from a player who has set his claim for a central midfield slot. Would like to see his partnership in the centre with Crosas develop some more as I think it has the necessary balance of guile, strength and creativity.

Well done Scott, and here is to many more. :thumbs.up:
