Tiger, everyone gets it, you aren't interested in politics. Here is a wee word of advice, stay off a political thread. Yes, they do exist, yes, there are Celtic supporters who discuss it. Not hard is it?

Love to hear any opinion on the matter, so please if you have one, lets hear it. Diversity makes for a good board. Nothing cryptic please, some of us don't understand 'tiger-speak' so please, just say what is on your mind on the subject at hand. If you don't have an opinion then just resist the urge to say anything. You talk about other posters, be a better one yourself instead of moaning about everyone else. :thumbs.up:

for over 40 years ive known about remembrance day although it disgusted me to see every year the royal family despleandant in all their medals that they got for nothing paying homage to the men and women who gave their lives in the wars but i for one am gratefulll to these people who sadly lost their lives
Whether i agreed with the wars is irrelelvant and whether i agree with remembrance day or not is also irrelevent
what i do see though is any kind of protest against this day by celtic supporters is a futile act and will not bring much admiration from a world wide audience
why has this protest never happened before at celtic park?
why all of a sudden we should jump to the beating of the drum of the green brigade
who the hell do they think they are ? do the talk for the majority of the support? there are many celtic associations who discuss things with celtic and they arent one of them
as the norm my politics arent usually in agreement with the rest of the forum members and i accept that i am in the minority on here but that i can take on the chin
what i am cerrtain of though is that ill be in the majority today at celtic park who are in opposition to any sort of protest by this green brigade attention seekers thats all they are even though they are the most vocal at the games
well ill be paying attention to exactly what goes on today

why has this protest never happened before at celtic park?

Because this is the first time that football clubs are being made to adorn their football strips with a red poppy.

Hence the unhappiness by a large percentage of the support and the planned protests.

Look, the wearing of the poppy should be an individual choice. It shouldn't be enforced. How the hell are Nakamura and Hinkel supposed to feel?

There are many ways of one showing remembrance other than a poppy. We are constantly told to keep politics out of Celtic, then the bastards have the cheek to enforce this on us!!!

And when it comes to the red poppy specifically, who benefits from the money collected?

Considering there are few veterans of the World Wars left, what does that leave? The modern British Army that's who!

You know, the one that has terrorised Ireland and are present, illegally in places like Iraq and Afghanistan.

So, you can stick yer red poppy up yer hole IMHO.

That is my problem as well here.

We all go on about how the old board used the club for whatever it wanted. How is the new lot any different in this regard?

I am sick to death of people like Reid using the Celtic support for his own gains. Why should it be that only our politics are deemed invalid, yet Reid's valid?

Why was this decision made now? Due to the fact that Britain is at war and recruitment is down to an all time low. So, Celtic, in effect, are being used to increase recruitment. This has nothing to do with those whose lives were needlessly taken from them in the genocide of 1914-1918, it has nothing to do with those who fought Hitler and Mussolini in Europe and North Africa, it has everything to do with there being not enough people who are willing to go and fight for unjust wars today.

Something that should be a choice has been forced down upon us by a man who was a big part of that decision to take tyranny to other lands (as the British did in Ireland and all over the world).

How can anyone be that naive to be happy about it? Reid took us on this course, and any reaction is his fault.

I hope that your letter of protest about Reid's actions is winging its way to CP as we speak tiger. :thumbs.up:

Aye, but that's not what the red poppy is remembering is it?

Being off-line for soooo long I didnt know about this poppy thing ..... I,m outraged that the poppy will share a place on my beloved Hoops with the 4 leafed clover ( will the poppy be deliberately placed over the clover ? )

I support wholeheartedly the protest against this political agenda ... be prepared for heavy handed stewarding inside CP as fans are huckled & chucked out for singing Soldiers Song or Nation Once Again

Ps ..... Haig was a war criminal

He would have qualified for the post of Celtic Chairman easily then.

Surely by the green brigade's logic that keeping a silence for the minute would be showing respect to certain people or groups they feel don't deserve it, disrupting the silence would also be showing direspect for those who do deserve it.

IMO a dignified protest would be to make sure they are absent from the ground until after the silence so they don't partake in it - rather than embarassing the club.

my understanding is that the GB protest involves handing out leaflets and leaving the match 10 minutes into the game

as far as I can see the whole minutes silence debate originates from 'the sun'
