One for the sofa methinks :hide:

Absolutely no way we can produce a mysterious bug that has buggered playing staff in time for Tuesday?

We should get hammered

From what I can see the choices are few

Boruc

Wilson Mick Caldwell Naylor

Naka Brown Robson Aiden

Maloney

McDonald

Pretty poor side imo, but stuck for names.

4-0 Man Utd (sorry and hope the reverse physcology works  )

Is the man from :naka: fit for this one.

Ex-Hoop Hartson: Giggsy Is A Cheater
Former Celtic striker John Hartson feels ex-Wales team-mate Ryan Giggs took a dive when Manchester United pipped Celtic in 2006...

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink stunned Old Trafford two years ago when Manchester United last hosted Celtic two years ago, netting the opener and putting the Red Devils on the back foot.

Then, in John Hartson's view, wily winger Ryan Giggs conned a soft penalty out of the referee has Artur Boruc raced off his goal-line. Louis Saha duly found the net from the spot.

From then on in the Premiership giants always had the momentum. Saha netted again, only to see Shunsuke Nakamura restore parity, but the now-retired Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bagged the winner just after the break.

Hartson told the Daily Record: "I went to the game as a Celtic fan and I was disappointed they lost 3-2 after playing so well. I felt Giggsy had gone down easily in a challenge with Artur Boruc and that fooled the referee into giving United a soft penalty.

"And that's exactly what I told him when we met after the game."

Hoodoo

This time, he feels that Celtic must forget their shocking away form in Europe and simply enjoy their night in the Theatre of Dreams.

Celtic did avenge that defeat in November of 2006, when Nakamura's free-kick handed them a 1-0 victory and safe passage to the last 16. However, the Bhoys have started slowly and need to end their travel turmoil ASAP.

Hartson continued: "There's no doubt it's going to be an even more difficult night for Celtic this time.

"I'd be lying if I said I believed Celtic would win; it's hard for anyone to win at Old Trafford. United had 11 home wins on the trot before they drew with Villarreal in the Champions League this season, so that sums up the the task that confronts Celtic.

"But the positive way of looking at that is to say the pressure is right off Gordon and the players. They should go into the match with the sole intention of enjoying themselves and that way their away-day hoodoo might just end.

"Paul Scholes has been missing from United's side, which is a help. Michael Carrick's just coming back from injury, which is always something. Also Wayne Rooney hasn't been firing in the goals for United the way he has done for England of late."

Hartson knows what he's talking about, having netted the Camp Nou goal that earned the Hoops their last positive away result against Barcelona in 2004.

Watching the west brom game Jinty, and Evra did come off, but will be okay for Tuesday by the looks of things.

We are going to have to frustrate them to get any result, even a draw imo.
They do not like teams that clutter the middle of the park and we must have Hartley, Brown and Robson at their very best.

Aiden has to grow up big time for this game. Too often we look to him to produce the magnificent, when the basics will do. Keep the ball and don`t give it away wide, otherwise that Portugese cheat will run amock as will Neville on the right.

Really worried about the left back position for this one tbh. They must have had Naylor sussed unless they sent a blind spy to our most recent games.

Not optimistic at all at all. Getting up at 4.15 to watch nonetheless. Never over till its over. Fancy Maloney up front supported by Brown but a hard working defensive midfield including Brown, Hartley, Robson and Crossas. McDonald on in 70 minutes and Aiden and Naka a half each. Suspect Loovens may be in the mix as all the rest are midgets. Moving one of theCB's to the full back position.

Just keep it respectable.

That's about all you can ask to be honest, considering the opposition and our injured players.

In football, you never know, but I am very, very worried by the potential outcome of this match.

To be honest, it is going to take a monumental performance from the bhoys, combined with a poor Manure performance and a helluva lot of luck to just come away with a draw.

Unfortunately, can see a 4 or 5-0 humping.

I am never happy to be sharing anything with that abomination of a football club and their scummy fans.

That includes oxygen. :D

Scum they may be. Thats your opinion but you cannot deny the enormity of the occasion and the buzz of playing in such a stadium against the very best players around will be incredible!

Football does not get any better than that. :ynwa:

Oh it's a big occasion all right. And it's great to be involved.

Doesn't change the fact that their fans are scum though.

I look forward to the many stories of their fans attacking ours in and around the stadium.

Started to get nerves now. Have cleaned behind the couch as that is where I will spend the whole 90mins. There is aboot as much chance of Adolf Hitler getting the nobel prize for his work wie Jews as we have of getting something from this game.

But......he may have been misunderstood.:-)

Injuries mean we have a toothless attack and oor favoured away formation is deemed useless.

The game that no one expects us to get anything from.

In every aspect, the so called experts, the media pundits, the casual observer all think we can get nothing from this one. Three point to the home side banked.

The injury list is full of key, experienced players on this stage. There was a time two seasons ago when JVoH was far and away the most experienced CL player in the squad and even he is missing. Add to that our top goalscorer and the only other physically imposing striker in Killen. :yikes: Our most experienced European participant isn't even in the squad for this one (Balde) and we are facing the reigning European Champions, a side who has the luxury of putting the excellent Carlos Tevez on the bench and still fielding a forward line worth £60m to start the game.

Thankfully football isn't played on paper. :relieved:

We will have no forward presence at all for this one, and McDonald is the worst player to play up front on his own out of all our first choice strikers, so the challenge will be immense. I can see us shaping up in a 4-5-1 and hopefully we will see Naka, Aiden and Maloney taking advantage of the space afforded them. Would really like to see Ben Hutchinson start as at least he offers something by way of power and pace. Is he ready though?

If we sit back, I fear a drubbing, but the one slimmer of hope I have is based on the personality of the manager who is, if nothing else, incredibly spiky if nothing else and will send out the team wanting to win, no doubt about that.

The other thing is, I am not sure their form is all that is made of. Having watched them a few times this season, I think they are quite beatable and actually look pretty poor in central midfield. Their result on Saturday looked impressive but until about the hour WBA were very much in that game. The media, of course have been hyping them thanks to Rooney scoring for Ingerlund. Hopefully we won't believe the hype when we take the field. :thumbs.up:

Quietly optimistic here, nothing to lose so why not. Would be typical of Celtic. :ynwa:

Des, I admire your positive thinking on this - my problem is that I just can't see where the goals are going to come from. Personally my biggest hope is that they believe the hype and are complacent.
