Very good there lads, while you were all asking questions you also answered a lot of questions, you see unlike you lot I support Celtic for football reasons, the calvary seem to support Celtic for politcal reasons only.
One poster wrote if it was not for the politics why bother, another one wrote that the politics were more important to him than the football, another wrote that some fans fell by the wayside because they chose to follow Man U. or Liverpool, whatever that means.
It tells me that if my beloved team were in a lower division you so called tims would hitch your political wagons someplace else, funny that.
And in case I have to explain that later, let me do it now, to you lot Celtics stature in world football gives you a platform for your political veiws, or so you think, where as if Celtic were not such a high ranking club you would have fuck to do with them.
Thats the difference between a Partick Thistle,Aberdeen,St Mirren and many more fans, they support they're teams for football, you lot support politics not Celtic.

haha!

whit?

seriously, what are you on about there?

if the politics is more important to me than the football then it's obvious i'll always be there for celtic, whether we're in the third division or the world club cup final.

a simple look at attendances, though, will tell you that when football teams don't have success they don't have fans.football fans, and i mean fans that simply watch football, are less loyal and more likely to drift away.

people who gather around celtic for community support, political ideals or to advance certain ideas will be far more loyal to the club.

the political and religious elements within celtic made our club what it was and is, football fans came when we started to play good football.political fans keep celtic high ranking, and purely-football fans would do well to remember who they feed off for their viewing pleasure.

well to some it might be great news but to me its sad that the politic debate has claimed a victim
when debating celtic issues on the forum differences of opinion seem to be accepted cordiarly but when politics come into the equation there is always gonna be someone hurt along the road
thats why ive always said that football and politics dont mix

I think it goes without saying that without the political element (small p) then there would be no point in following Celtic unless you liked the colour green.

so the attractive football ,the succesfull history doesnt play a part in it just to say that someone likes the colour in my eyes says to me that your interest in celtic is for political purposes only

That is not what I said, tiger, and I would like to think you know it. Did you even bother to read the rest of the post?

In fact, I would say that your comment was bordering on the ridiculous. Either you are on the wind-up or you genuinely haven't read any of my posts on this or any other thread.

Thankfully, your opinion on why I support Celtic is pretty irrelevant when it comes down to it as you are not my judge, so, either you take it from me that I don't support Celtic for purely political reasons, or you hold onto the belief that I do in your wee world. Up to you, no skin off my back. Would have thought the reasons for me supporting Celtic were well enough explained.

If you still want to know then ask instead of making such ridiculous assumptions.

actually des i did read all of your post and to tell you the truth ive spent the last hour and a half going through all the posts inm this thread but you have came out with statement that without the political side to celtic there is no POINT in supporting them so if myself and any other person has no interest in politics then we should just go shopping on a match day utter tosh

It goes without saying that football is a massive element of the club. We are a football club after all, but, not just a football club.

The point about buying merchandise was made directly to an issue raised by another poster about Celtic not being linked to politics at all. My point was that this has already happened, for instance in the US, and sport there is merely that, people showing up, drinking beer, "whooping" when they are told to and wearing giant foam fingers whilst wearing replica shirts. If that is what people want from Celtic, then fine, that is up to them. I do not, and I think Celtic is bigger than that, don't you? Or are we just the "good wee consumers" who sing what we are supposed to and check in our personalities at the door?

I hope that explains my post in a clearer fashion to you. I am not sure why you would be arguing a counter point as you post many times on the political nature of the Celtic support yourself. That you have posted this could suggest something else is going on? Far be it from me to accuse you of anything though. Merely a thought.

Tiger, I think it is you who is missing the point here.

In my opinion, for me, for whom football and politics are always intrinsically linked, there would be no point. The appeal of Celtic to me is about the heritage and history of the park both on and off the park. Together, that is what Celtic is all about. You simply cannot separate them.

If you did, then there would be no point. What you have to do with it, I haven't a scooby.

Hope that explains it better.

If it does, then there is obviously nothing else going on. ;)

with respect dessie you are being so one sided it is unbeleibable
as far as im concerned any person that supports celtic both for political tendancies and football interest fair doos to them ive got no problem with that at all but i have got an arguement when that ilk of supporter tells me that i have no point in suppoting celti if im not interested in the political side of the club
and yes i do like the colour :thumbs.up:
