Hi all.
This is my first post on here so go easy on me!

I hope I’ve put this question in the right section.

It’s a simple question, does anybody know if the Marzocchi Corsa LR Forks 2014 forks lock-down? I know they ‘lock out’ but I’m after a new fork to replace my Marzocchi XC500 that lock-down which great for hill climbing.

I’ve looked on Marzocchi’s website but can’t find out if they lock-down or not.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers
:)

Hey Chainlink!

Welcome to the forum :) its a fun and happy place - you'll be fine :)

You're right that lockout doesn't imply a reduction in travel (which is why lock down is good for climbing.)

No idea about your particular fork - someone might chip in here but I'd try some other forums too Singletrackworld is a good one with lots of visitors (and hence people likely to know about a specific fork)

Hope that helps and do keep posting

Hi
Thanks for the reply and the research!

I was in Evans Gatwick the other day and asked the same question but about a Fox shock and was met with no understanding of why I would want a lock-down on a fork. It's just very handy when riding all over the Southdowns
I tried to explain that when my mates are struggling to keep their front wheels on the ground on very steep ground, I’m not!

Hay ho. If they don’t lock down I’ll probably go for a Fox fork with a lock-out.

Thanks again.

That was my thought too ;)

Anyhows, just in case folks are interested

I had an almost immediate response from Windwave.co.uk via email about the above.

Their response was;

Hi, I’m afraid these do not lock down. No fork in the new ranges too I’m afraid, it’s a shame, was a great feature.

Regards

Shaun

Depends on how slack your head angle is, I suppose.

Bob.
My Froggy had a 67degree steerer and I rode it to the top of many tough climbs in Scotland, and back down again with many smiles, plus a few bruises.

Needing lock down is questionable to say the least (unless your a sponsored pro), if lock out is not enough.

Remember the chats we had saying that 7inches of travel was classified as 'Skills compensation'

Well here we go....learn to ride better if you think lock down is the way forward.

DLT...

Fully rigid single speed is the only true way, then?

I guess it’s just something I’ve got use to using.

I surpose a typical example would be on the Southdown’s climbing up the bridle path from the west side of Kingston (near Lewis) back up onto the downs and joining Jugg’s Road (track). The bridleway forks at the bottom, the right hand fork up is a bit of a challenge. Especially after a ‘pie and a pint’ in the Jugg’s in Kingston…ahem..

Cheers Clive
