Was looking for somthing new to do on my day off and came across Stoughton Downhill, 3 very well put together downhill tracks. The Vale caught me of guard and went flying over the bars. Mixed it up a little and did a bit of kingley vale. Well worth a vist and believe it would made a great club ride {hint hint} Link![]() ![]() http://i355.photobucket.com/albums/r480/14NEO/SAM_0189.jpg

That looks nice - a lot of those trail features seem well designed, as they look like they can be jumped or rolled. |

Be double extra careful up there Bryn . There was a heli evac the other weekend from Kingly for a rider who has had a life changing injury. Yes , its great in a mini DH style of blast down and winch up . Repeat . style of riding , and hopefuly the accident wont scare the FC as riding has always been tollerated to a point. |

From FBook - Arrrgghh! ***************************** Sunday 22nd September Accident update Hi all, thanks for your messages. Tough one this. Sorry for the confusion, on using the term lad, we are all lads at heart. The Guy, who had the accident, is 44 year old, Darren Foley. Experienced rider, loves this sport, in his own words, got it wrong. He hit a tree head first, the impact, shattered his lower back, severing his spinal cord. He was taken to Southampton General Hospital, he spent the next 24hrs in a high dependency room, with 1 on 1 care. After several scans, on the 25th he had a 4hr op, to plate his back together. The next day he could sit himself up. 1st October, Darren was moved to the Queen Alexander Hospital Portsmouth. Tomorrow, he is being moved to the Duke of Cornwall Hospital, Salisbury. We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for there donations, at the Rogate Downhill Race. We collected £245.85p for the Air Ambulance. with out these guys, who knows, what may have happened. Thankyou ***************************** |

We have ridden that kingley vale DH track in a club ride previously. Problem is it's sketchy as hell in anything other than dry conditions. |

Cheers Rob I made the mistake of taking on the hardess route first and I bugged out on anything I felt that was over my level of skill, I Read the same news after coming home the guy was lucky to still be alive, and were all lucky as mountain bikers to have the Air Ambulance service if the worst happens. I would have to disagree with you nero on it been sketchy It was damp Monday and it flowed really well, been around the downs your find it chalky which makes it slippy. |

Yep, think we've done 3 club rides down there now. Sad news about the guy who hurt himself, here's wishing him a speedy recovery. A sharp reminder that what we do is an extreme sport, even if it doesn't feel like it when you're flowing through the trees with huge grins on our faces. Ride safe peeps. |
