Well, if you didn't know, I've been a bit poorly since January this year when a vertebrae in my spine decided to do a little dance on top of the one below, and moved itself to a new position. Ouch!

But, 9 months on and lots of painkillers, injections, sitting on a chair, and now physio, are seeing me be more mobile. The physio says my back - which is fused from previous surgeries - is naturally aligned to like the cycling position. I said, oh what a shame (not!), let's bring it on then.

So, after 5 weeks of physio on a stationary bike, bouncing about on a huge ball, and a bit of rowing, I'm now starting to get out on a bike proper.

Today see's my 2nd ride on the Cuckoo Trail from Hellingly to Horam. A grand total round trip on a Sustrans route of 8 miles, punctutated with coffee to keep my strength up :D

But, I am a happy gal to be back on a bike and have aspirations of getting well enough to bike ride proper come next summer. So long as my back plays the game of increasing fitness without locking into painful spasms, i'll achieve this goal.

So, with my MTB spruced up with slick tyres and completely over-specc'd, I'm off for a spin and I am so happy about it I can't tell you. Wish me luck and hopefully see you on the trails sooner than I could have hoped for ... fingers crossed

Update: cheeky 2nd ride managed this weekend with a little trip from Butcher's Hole Bottom at Friston (I just love that name), on the big flat main trail through the Forest, out the other side, finished with and a rest and mochachocca in the glorious sunshine on the beach at Cuckmere Valley. It was a beautiful day and too good to miss out on. I took a chance I would be OK on a bit of rough stuff, and I was, in the main.

A bit of ice and heat therapy when I got back has meant I'm not locked up in agony, and that's another 9 miles in the bag towards fitness too....

Hope you all got out for a ride somewhere yesterday, it was just a gorgeous day B)

PS Loving the kitten lol!

@Steve - we haven't forgotten about you guys, and well done for keeping the nightriding in Friston going. I am way, way off nightriding, but I will mention to Rick and if it's not raining - he's a total wet weather wimp nowadays - and he's not working, I'll drag him out and I'll meet you in the pub a couple of hours later...

@Beluga - no cakes or kittens were harmed at the weekend :-)
