Post was too low after fitting a new clamp, so 10min into the ride we stopped and I pulled it up. It was was blowing a gale and so we wanted to get off the exposed section. I never checked the limit marker, climbed up the last hill towards the SDW and suddenly slid backwards. Thinking it was just my dodgy seat rails popping out again, I stood up and continued up. Got off to check the seat...and wham. Tears flowed. Just 100m back Carl was telling me how he likes to change bikes often and I bragged how I got my Focus in 2007 and it's been so solid and reliable.....

A total fukn write-off!! Arrrgghhh

Lightly Sprinkled
No amount of duct tape is going to sort that out I'm afraid.

New bike buying in your future unfortunately. :(

Ouch - both physically, mentally & financially.

Glad it didn't fall out completely or you might have had a painful shock!

Totally dead for sure. No chance ever repairing that.

Could claim on contents insurance for accidental damage. covered anywhere in world for such things.

New Focus 29er possibly ;)

Whatever you get, choose a larger frame or a longer seat post.

If frame size is OK, then pay attention to the way the top tube and seat tube meet...

The more seat tube that you have above the top tube, the weaker (I'd say) it tends to be.

There's a reason that frame builders do this...

...and it's essentially to beef things up in compensation for lowering the rear of the top tube (which was itself done to gain standover height)
