Baby Gixxer aka Ricky is the latest Muddy@rse to be hit with the Big Dog Curse. Early reports say that after a storming opening lap the dreaded second lap did for him resulting in dislocated shoulder!

GWS.

Yes, get well soon Ricky - you weren't wearing pyjamas at the time of the crash, were you? ;)

I wasn't Mings "tree of doom" striking again?

Get well soon Rick, bet a dislocated shoulder only slows you down a tiny bit so we still can't catch you ;)

He was in good spirits when I spoke to him
Apparently he was bombing along behind another rider who took a wrong turn and the front guy crashed and Ricky went OTB avoiding him
Didnt race as broken , heckled alot from the top of the nasty Cliff climb and ate cake
Not sure of the new course maybe more weather proof but shorter and harder
Event as a whole seemed busier than previuos years

Thanks for the get wells guys!
Feeling a bit sore and fragile today, the thought of not being able to ride is not pleasent :(
I'm sure I'll make another quick recovery though.
Here a few pics from the day, wish I'd taken more, it was a great event and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Just had a look at the Course Map, my end came on the section called "Morvelo Mashup", well that was true to it's name! Usefully right next to a Marshal point, a rider behind me had a sling, so my arm was in a sling within seconds of me going down and medics were there within a couple minutes.
Quickest response times you could wish for! The pro that caused me to crash didn't stick around for a second. My first reaction was to jump back on my bike, but after several attempts and the adrenanline wearing off, my body wouldn't even let me stand up, took 15 minutes for me to get to my feet. I felt I could of sat there all day and the guys helping would of just waited patiently, I was under no pressure, but I wanted to get back to the finish to hand over the baton to my team mates Carl and Robbie to continue racing. Once back to the finish the ex-forces paramedic put my shoulder back in, which lessened the pain greatly and allow me to move my arm again, beit very carefully. And I was continued to be cared for by being given free beer! Also a big thank you to one of the Mr Cycles wife's for supplying me with well needed painkillers, combined with the beer, I was a happy man :)

Ricky

What an eventuful weekend for you!

Glad you were well looked after - shows once again that us MTBers are a friendly and helpful lot :)

Good luck on the recovery - you're young so should bounce back quick enough I'm sure..

R

p.s. I have v bruised/cut shins from a wheely over a ditch incident that went v wrong on Sat evening. Nailed the wheely, which surprised me so much so only to lose control and end up in the bushes on my side!

Ricky did a flying first lap - finishing around 30th and we seemed to maintain that until the fateful crash. To be fair, the course is tight and I was definitely on the edge more than once - throw in someone making a error in your path and there really is nowhere to go. With thr pressure off robbie and I could relax (a few more laps and that was pretty much a wrap). On one side I would have liked to race the whole way and see where we ended up but on the other my legs probably appreciated taking it easier on the last lap. Get well soon Ricky, that new 20lbs machine of yours is dying to get ridden.

"ex-forces paramedic put my shoulder back in"

Damn! Was that painful? All I can envisage is Mel Gibson smacking his dislocated shoulder against a locker to put it back in...................

Glad I pulled out now ;)
