Real or fake...; Christmas tree conundrum.

So what is it to be this year: a real Xmas tree in the living room with all the decorations (that the cat will cheerfully remove and break/eat and then climb the tree ) or a slightly cheesy fibre optic plastic tree...

I always think it's nice to go for a real tree but there is always the minor issue of deforestation and impending severe needle drop before christmas eve and all for a stupidly high price meaning that as I get older I am starting to think that artificial is ok.

Hmm...decisions, decisions....

Any suggestions from the muddy@rse Christmas advice collective?

Oh if only shimano did an XT tree with additional titanium and carbon fibre bits ;)

If this was a combat situation, we'd be dead by now.
Fake here, a wiser long term investment i feel. They also tend to be more toddler/cat proof.

I'm not happy...been to five tree places and they are all out of stock of the cheaper needle droppers, only giants left, and those posh spruce ones are starting at £38 :(

I did have to laugh (ok, chuckle quietly as I drove away) at the guy that had just spent over £50 on a tree, pushed it into his car over the rear seats, and realising it was too long, then found it was stuck fast despite him and his wife trying to unwedge it :)

I think I'll plant a nice tree in front of my window in the Spring, and then I can just decorate it with some lights each year. The tree always limits the number of presents that can be piled under it anyway...
