Its a sad day... My trusty companion has served me well, survived many a bumpy road*, some less than careful handling, rarely washed, 'borrowed' by others but always finding its way back without incident, and kept me company during many hours of toil when any sensible person would be tucked up in bed. But during a recent cleaning session I discovered a crack. I could continue to enjoy it but I fear it would end in tears as said crack has passed right through a structural member. So the tough decision has been taken to retire it, to hang it up as an ornament before it snaps completely in half. ![]() * In my works van. I think its bumpiest road was when it accompanied me to the pylons (sorry Ming, the radio mast!) on the South Downs at Firle ![]() |

If this was a combat situation, we'd be dead by now.

Mine went in a similar fashion back in the summer. It has been consigned to ornament status too... |
