Ok - just had a lovely chat with Sharki. I think we're in for a treat! Plan is to meet Saturday morning 09:30 at the Cider House in Nether Stowey (just round the corner from the Rose and Crown). We'll be out all day, and just in case do chuck lights if you have them either on your bike in your rucksack. We plan to stop in a pub for lunch - it'll be a sandwich and drink affair to allow us to make the most of the daylight. *cough* beer *cough* I've invited Sharki to join us for dinner at the Rose and Crown as thanks for his guiding (and to be sociable) - we can sort out funds for this. Sunday - Sharki has suggested we leave the accomodation and drive up onto the hills. We'll look to take a packed lunch with us (either from the R&C or from a shop nearby) which gives us more flexibility. Also means that we can tailor Sunday's riding in case people need to leave early to get back (or are too knackered as we can drop back via the cars fairly easily.Useful and probably obvious advice from Sharki and me. Forgive me going all official and lecturey! PLEASE make sure you're bike is in good order. I know I know its obvious but the mud is now back and it's be a shame if anyone has to miss out riding as their shock/brakes/pedals have broken from recent rides and you only discover as you get the bike out of the car on Saturday.... Quantocks is gritty, and if we do get rain there's a good chance your brake pads will wear - fast! PLEASE bring spare pads with you. As with all MA rides, you ride at your own risk. Us chaps can suffer from Showing Off disease, especially when excited by new trails and lots of banter. Please ride within your abilities and let's stay safe and enjoy our weekend. Looking forward to a classic and memorable weekend ![]() Oh and is anyone bringing a helmetcam? R |

What an epic day, weather was perfect, great trails and climbs, even felt a little bit of fatigue a couple times and I have a great video of Chadders airbourne then tumbling into the undergrowth!

Hi, we rode the Quantocks Ridge today and gave you a wave every once in a while. Wasn't the weather just ab fab :-) We had a truly memorable day and I bet you did too. Due to shonky knee and snotty x 2 we stayed on the ridge and didn't venture into the Combes that we know are brilliant riding. Hope you have a great day tomorrow too.... |

Well, we are now on riding day two...no one else is awake yet ( so there to everyone who think I struggle on Sundays!) Yesterday was really good fun...a few spills ( chadders crash was comedy gold, of the slightly wince-inducing kind, captured on video) lots of fab trails and our guides for the day, Sharki, Buzz Lightyear and Eliptic showed us some real local gems of downhills. Slightly sore head now from the evenings exploits in the bar and now looking forwards to a slap up breakfast and a morning on another part of the ridge |

A great weekends riding and surprisingly nice weather. Lovely to ride somewhere new. Some testing climbs on Saturday! Favourite descent for me was Bincombe. Sunday was a bit of exploring via map, we stumbled upon The Chimney which was interesting! Thanks to Rich for organising, everyone for the company and Robin for the lift. |

That was a very good fun and very much needed break. The Quantocks are a fantastic location with great trails and fab views. I posted a thank you note to Shane (aka Sharki) and co on STW... Both himself and his bike are now a bit broken Big thanks to Rich for the ace organisation and to everyone for the excellent friendship, banter and general good humour all weekend ( even on the final 45mins of the ride today when we were all a bit knackered ) Some piccies Here |
