So for my final year, which will be my 3rd year at uni once I have finished my years placement working for a post production company in London. Is a 10,000 word document. And your' piece of media. Which for me I want to be a film. Based around action sports and not necessarily just MTB. But obviously knowing so much more about bikes than I do say, snow boarding I'd be stupid not to focus on that a bit more.

Today I had an idea about making an action documentary, with some of the key UK bike and part manufacturers as well as some of the 'local' bike shops.
Along the lines of factory tours, interviews with various key staff and then some of their sponsored riders. Both on and off the bike. Or even the staff members riding.

Example companies:
Fibrax
Hope
Orange

Probably evolution bike shop in Eastbourne plus a few other shops nearer the base of the companies I'd work with.

What the main focus of this is I am not quite sure, whether I focus more on the business side of things or more on the riding. Both really.

Thoughts?

Thanks!!!

Eddy

maybe a section detailing the effect the Olympics may have had on cycling ie;- a shift away from Mtb to road cycling or visa-versa,(having spoken to a friend who owns a cycle shop, he said that mtb is dying (his words) and that road bike's account for nearly 80-90% of his sales. reason being that road riding is ultimately accessable to 100% of the population, all of the time, whereas mtb ,you have to search for and then initiate a trail, then hope land owners/forestry etc dont stop you for either trespass or insurance , it might not just be the olympics, the cost of driving or the governments push to get people exercising :ph43r:

Good Point Mr Hobbz
I have to agree the industry is doing little to hugely support MTB
take a look at how few organised events there are in this area .

I would go for a delight and suprise ,Project .
Tell me something I did not know about the MTB thinking on the lines as to how it regenerated Afan
or Something like rehabilitation of wounded soldiers using MTBs . Possibly how much money MTB has raised for British Heart Foundation

You need to make it interesting to the non rider just how interesting are brake pad compounds to someone who has never ridden a bike with disc brakes? [ and probably never will ] we of course can chat all night abput the merits of organic pads :D

Actually I probably could!

But yes I like what both of you have to say.
Funny thing is. I don't yet know the requirements for the project. But I have technically got an extra 10 months. So want to get some ideas going.

:) Shall add this all to my research !

Impact of 2012 on cycling has to be favourite, especially the effect on MTBing.

Otherwise - changing attitudes of mtbing in the south downs now its a national park?

Oh and I've heard v good things about the transformation of the trails in QEII park in Petersfield (from Rob the Brewer). Might be fun to focus on that as a success story...

How about contacting Expsure Lights - who are based in Midhurst, West Sussex; and follow them from creation of their lights, to a 24hr race they sponsor and interview some of their team riders, before, during and after race and convince some of them to use a Gopro on a lap or two to demonstrate how good said lights are, and how flippin fast a pro rider is.

This covers the male/female aspect of things too as they will probably (?) have both on their team.

I like this. A lot actually. That was pretty much exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of.

Rich, I also had heard about the QE park! Shall look into that one.

No it was the Tri shop , To be fair their core business is road bikes I guess the clue is in the name of the shop :D

Clearly the olympics has been good for road bike sales

Good luck with that ,
No MTBs downs stairs either , had to make room for all the road bikes

Yep you're right, they have a full range of 2013 mtb's waiting to be made up, apparently been very busy selling bikes and not enough time to get the new stock out.
