I was indeed there - and what a glorious day it was. Shame that Annie only managed 8th, but she's still developing (according to some) and the others were just awesome anyway. The myth that Essex is flat has been well and truly busted. Waiting to see the first feedback from members of the public who ride the course after the Olympics (to see how sanitized it becomes) before deciding if it's worth a Muddy@rse trip over there. (I shall definitely be taking pads!) Anyway I'm very pleased with the pictures that I took, and hope to do some video editing tomorrow. See you at Beachy Head tomorrow. |

I just watched the whole race on bbc sport catch up. Absolutely phenomenal performances from the women. The winner was just stellar, mean pace and never faltered. Our girl hit lap1 too hard I reckon, she got into the breakaway but those behind ate her up. Course looks wicked, definitely gonna do it once they open it. Some nasty crashes were shown but bbc focused solely on the lead group, saw nothing of the rest of field sadly. Would have been good to see their battles. Bikes running 1x11 setups, perfect. Edit; great photos bob! |

Commentator fail in the male race, with half a lap to go the guy that finished 3rd has his seat post snap clean off and they both missed it! |

Bbc also failed to show the mens medal ceremony and film the riders at the finish collapsed and shaking hands, thats key. instead they cut to the waffling blonde girl babbling away without end. Wish you could select camera. Catering for the no idea people!!! Boardmans ok commentating, the other guy's more suited to his usual snowboarding or motoX Mean pace set by the Swiss dude, no chance for other riders to catch up. If you're not at the front at the start it's all over. 8kg bikes, would love to try one of those! Did we see Fontana's seat post go on BBC? I missed it too, wonder how he managed that. He did seem to be sitting very low down. |

...he's got short legs.... i think he lost it just before the last tight left hander round the tree up hill bit. Still if you turn up with a bit of your bike missing, then you'd expect something else to fall of at some stage........... felt sorry for Stander, all that hard work to be undone with a bit of a stall .As for Mr Kileen, retire son and open a bike shop in the Malverns. We could even invite him on one of our "shonky joint" rides.......'hands, knee's and bumpsy daisy'

Yeah he did well to keep catching the front guys, he blew it on that techy climb though. Hobbling the frame along never works. I feel sorry for the lead Swiss man, he set an incredible pace the entire way only to be snubbed on the last bend, if he'd come across, taken the inside and blocked the Czech he would have descended first and grabbed the Gold. However, the Czech was on his wheel the whole way so is totally deserving. I'm gonna try the course as soon as it opens I think. I wonder how much of the boulders they'll be taking out. Think i'll definitely need a fork service first and possibly a remote lockout upgrade (if that's even possible) |

Rather tired Fosters checking in... Great day at the races yesterday - will sort out some photos later on (@ Bob - some cracking shots there!) early thoughts. - the guys ride really really fast. uphill especially ![]() - the techy bits of the course were quite techy. I doubt the course will open to the pubic without some reduction of the tech otherwise they will need an ambulance on permenant standby! - organisation was superb - park and ride system worked like a dream, only minor queueing to get out and a few mins to get water from one of the taps in the venue. Hiya - Rick is up for riding this course too if a trip gets organised :-) We really enjoyed watching the men's racing yesterday too and were surprised at how techy the course looked compared to other XC races we've seen. Also interesting to see some full sussers out there too, including the winner. Poor guy who lost his entire seat post; I missed it but eagle eye rick spotted it straight away. Now looking forward to the Paralympics and cheering them all on. Great photos Bob and so pleased everyone who attended had a fab day out. cheers 4 sharing

I hope they don't make it a "pootle around" course, they should leave the techy stuff in for the skilled riders and make chicken runs along the side for the not so skilled. That way everyone gets a go. |

I hope that's what they do too. They have the space to put chicken runs in, its just a question of what they do to the original features... I understand that part of the racecourse went into the adjoining country park and they may have to reroute completely (if its the bit I'm thinking of, you won't miss that part much anyway...) Lets see what happens! R |

And on that note Ming, I have just had an interesting e-mail at work.... "The Hadleigh Farm Olympic Mountain Bike course is not currently open to the public. There are works ongoing at the site to remove the temporary infrastructure from the London 2012 Olympic Mountain Bike events and these will not be completed until later in the year. There are further various works to make it suitable to open it for public access and these works will not begin until 2013. ECC are planning to provide opportunities for experienced riders of a suitable standard who are interested in riding the course the chance to join guided rides before the adaptations are completed. For experienced mountain bikers who have completed “black” grade trails at other UK trail centres or others with other appropriate coaching or skills qualifications who are interested they should email london2012@essex.gov.uk providing details of their experience level and weather they are interested as A ) a Group or B ) an individual. For those interested in details of when the legacy adaptations will be completed please register your contact details by emailing London2012@essex.gov.uk to be kept informed." Soooooo, let me see....Have we all done Black graded trail centre runs? Oh yes we have
