If any of you saw me wandering around holding a torch on Sunday at the club ride, I was probably waxing lyrical about this recent ebay purchase.

Purchased here on ebay

There was me thinking - twenty quid for a helmet light? nah - its going to be rubbish but hey let's give it a go...

Pros

Amazing price - £20 delivered!
All metal construction
Excellent light spread and power - a claimed 1000 lumens but who knows. Certainly good enough on its own for my off commuting, and a killer off road singletrack weapon together with a bar mounted light
Lasts for ages (haven't timed it on high but its going to be good - looking at the battery capacity...)
Li-ion battery (only one needed, but you get a spare)
Charger and adapter included.
Nicely sealed with proper grommets.

Cons
It is a bit heavy - reviews on the internet put it at 163g. The USE exposure joystick comes in at 103g for comparison, but that is £165...
You need to find a helmet mount. I use a helmet cam mount which is great. Lots out there just take your pick..
erm - it came from Hong Kong and took 3 weeks to arrive. I'm shamelessly not supporting the UK bike industry - but its a terrific bargain..

Further review on Singletrackworld here

I'll be using it tomorrow night at Friston if anyone wants a shufty...

I have one too .
Amazing amount of light for £20. Lasts about 2 hours toggling between modes . Insanely bright on full chat, much more than a joystick
I use 2 velcro straps to secure mine to my lid, and it doesnt wobble at all .
Downsides , just a tiny bit weighty , thats all, oh and stupid 5 modes where 3 would do .
I match mine with a triple xml torch on the bars and the combination for £60 is stunning

£20 for that is a steal Rich :)

Just for a comparison though, on the same Friston ride I was using my new (early) christmas pressie of an Exposure Joystick Mk6 (thanks Janine  ). Yes, its (a lot) more expensive but here are my observations:

Its so light you dont actually notice you are wearing it on you your helmet.

It seems to be very well made.

The helmet mount is flippin brilliant and very stable.

In spite of "only" having 325 Lumens output on full its seems to be as bright as Richs' 1000 Lumen torch (Lumen outputs are very vague as it depends where you are measuring this from: Its actually quite a bit brighter than my old 420Lumen Hope Vision2 LED lights!)

It gave about 2hrs 45 mins on full power and was only just in the 25% battery remaining phase, the quoted 3hrs on full power and 8hrs on mid seems to be pretty good, long duration test to come.

Oh, and heres the clincher, I got a nice case and some stickers with it ;)

Im going to get the headband mount for this so I can also use it for my night running, should be really good for this so I can off-road run trough the winter and, when road running, blind drivers who use full beam headlights on me :)

I think I might have to give one of them a go Rich! I need a light, if it's gonna take 3 weeks i'll order one now and send it up to uni! But seeing as there are 2 of you that really seem to like it!

What were you paring it with on the bars?
