Hello all, does anyone here use braided brake hose? I'm going to give the Felt a bit of a service soon and a while back I managed to kink the rear brake hose so I'm going to change it, and was thinking about braided hose. It seems to be a divided camp on other forums weather it makes any difference but should I stay with the plastic hose or go all bling on it? Your thoughts please (thats thoughts about the hose, not just random ones that have popped in your head )Cheers, Ian |

Hi mate, I only ever used braided lines on my motorbikes and can tell you they made a huge difference. Nick |

When I damaged a hose on my Hopes I replaced with Goodridge braided hose (by the metre, not a kit). Dunno about braking performance as I serviced the brakes at the same time, but the braided hoses are much more flexible so its much easier to keep them neat. I used to have a big loop of hose from my rear caliper as it was the old thick Hope hose and very stiff. (they use thinner hose now). Edit: I'd say worth it if you have to replace the hoses anyway, probably not worth it if your existing ones are fine. I ordered an extra couple of metres of hose to allow for cutting one too short and also so if I damage another, I can replace it and still have a matching set

braided hoses are supposed to stop expansion when the oil gets hot ,therefore no loss of brake power or fade |

Cheers for the replies. As you said Ollie I'll be rebuilding the master cylinders and calipers at the same time so I probably won't know if the hose makes any difference and if I can run neater lines that'll be a bonus. I think I best get on CRC and get some then along with the bushes, bearings, cables etc. I can hear my wallet sobbing. Thanks all. |
