Thanks to Rich for another execllent day of riding. Barry knows much better than he did before (So much so, that we had to have double helpings!) Things weren't quite as muddy as we thought they'd be, but can't wait to do it all again, in the dry. Good turn out from the usual suspects, and a few new faces (or is that @rses?) - keep it up guys. To top it all, on the way home, the entire forest on the side of Holmbury Hill was lit up orange in the sunset - perfect end to a brilliant day! |

Huge thanks to Rich for leading the ride, and for showing us why the area is as popular as it is. All of the riding was amazing, but Barry knows best will be in my mind forever. And i know that if time was on our side we would have ridden it 3 or more times but twice was amazing. Thanks to all muddy@'s for making another perfect say of riding and most of all 'fun', is it wrong to be still smiling and feeling like a teenager???. |

All, Many thanks for the kind words - seriously it's a pleasure to show you around and you lot are no trouble at all ![]() I'm really pleased you all enjoyed it so much - it was my first run down the new diverted end of BKB - what a brilliant job the trail pixies have done! Excellent to see some new faces too - Hi to Rob, Xavier and Phil. Hope to see you guys again! ![]() Grinny ![]() Sunny ![]() Claggy! More pics here clicky Oh, and if you're a big fan of the beautiful areas we rode on today (known as the Hurtwood), I'd encourage you to join the Hurtwood Control Trust. It's an organisation that looks after the Hurtwood and has done a huge amount to raise the profile of mountain bikers. Only a few years ago MTBers were considered as the spawn of Satan by many locals. These days MTBers are respected and have a big say in what happens on the Hurtwood. That fantastic new end to BKB was down to the work of the Hurtwood Control Trust! Please do consider joining so we can keep enjoying the trails for years to come ![]() Thanks and see you next time ![]() Rich |

Thanks Rich for a great day of riding. Great trails, not that much mud, good company, cheesy straws and cake to top it all off. My favourite Club Ride so far. Caroline |

The first time I watched Rick's video, I thought that there must have been two routes that both ended up at the berms - mainly because I didn't see the drop-off that's fairly near the start. Then I watched it again and spotted the drop-off - just goes to show how smooth Rick makes it look (And he's bloody fast too!) I'm grinning again - just from watching the video

It's not a big one - some people may not even consider it a drop-off - but it's about 3-4 feet and big enough to spoil your day if you're not confident. It's at about 49 seconds in, but hard to spot unless you've ridden it. |

@Bob - Is this the drop off with the tree just to the left and two or three roots next to each other making up a sequence of step downs, that if ridden fast enough become one 3 ft drop? |

t'was a lovely day for bike riding and hooking up with you all throughout the day made it all the more fun. Glad you all enjoyed those trails - they never fail to deliver - and again, big thanks to Mr Reech for putting together the ride and leading. Rick is truly in love with his new bike and I think I need to have a word with him about how flippin fast he's riding it  I can only dream of singletracking like that - maybe that's why I've been crashing lately, I'm trying to keep up with him  Anyone want to help out and do a write up pls ? |
