Darth - when you get to a 'certain age' everything else seems to be 'not very old' ;)

'Tis a nice colour scheme though!

That particular page is for >1998 bikes.

I guess in a sport like this with its ever changing technology even fairly recent bikes can be considered retro. Mostly though its mid/late 90's or earlier that's really retro. I think the appeal is that the era produced some of the best looking and technologically innovative bikes and components of recent years.

I really like the look of that Chute and I was surprised I did. Seeing the thread title I thought oh-no not another kiddie chav 'Jump' bike  but it looks really good as an XC bike and the geometry seems spot on.

PS: Im not that old. I just don't like the ugly modern chite we are expected to buy because last years frame/fork/component is now outdated......End of mini-rant :D (have I made this a Retro v's Modern thread, oops!) I like some modern stuff like the Crank Brothers products for example. I find alot of it dull and all this long travel stuff seems to take the riding out of riding for me.

Anyway, I though the bike was something different and put the link up so others could see it. Its not mine obviously but it show's that not everything on retrobike is ancient  Its a rather cool and unusual build that seems to work really well and is pleasing on the eye I think :)

Sorry wasnt an anti retro thread , genuine question, was wondering if it was the build or the bike ,

Bobs right I have reached the age when most things arn't all that old !

Also I agree about the bling stuff
particularly when a £12 head set will last the same length of time as a £60 one

Its OK, I didn't take it that way. I let my fingers get a bit carried away on the keyboard sometimes :D

Now back to searching for 'Retro' bike components on eBay! Now again some minty condition Ringle appears! That reminds me. A few weeks ago there was a NOS pair of white Onza Pork tyres on the bay. Went for nearly £300!!!! :o :D

I like shiny....................

I'm waiting for the carbon titanium bell at £50 before I fit a bell to my bicycle!

So something from the 80s would be more of a 'retro' retro bike then? Ah I get it now...
