Hi guys, Does anyone fancy a quick snowy spin this afternoon in Tilgate? I don't think I'm going to be staying at work so let me know if you're interested. |

Ha Ha set off at 0620 and failed miserably to get more than 10 miles from home, just got back and received a text from the boss saying only travel if REALLY necessary. |

Ming's a light weight  . Typical network rail, 2ft of snow and call it a day  . I left work at 0600 and it took me 55 minutes to get home. Normally a 20 minute drive. 20 mph down the A23 and lots of sliding. I managed to drive pass all the stuck cars trying to get out the village without hitting any of them (one up from earlier this year ) Never mind it'll all be gone by lunch time. Good luck on your ride Chadders. I think I'll lob the bike in the car just in case I get stuck on the way in tonight. I think I'll try and get stuck somewhere around Devils dyke. Go easy today. |

Pains me to say it but it won't be gone by lunchtime. I'm looking at the radar telemetry and there is another pair of big fat snow clouds destined for the South East. Were gonna get more. |

Loads of fun trying to conquer the hill outside our house in the Punto this morning, gave up and took the van instead which didn't even want to wheelspin, mixed it with the strange variety of old Land Rovers that have been pulled from their retirement. Saw a mustard yellow one in Lewes, looked like a Defender 130 but was more rounded. Unfortunately its my day off today, unfortunately because I'd have stayed home anyway due to the steep hill where my work van is parked ![]() Edit: Just ran upstairs to watch a neighbour try and ride his 50cc moped down the road, thankfully he's come to his senses after failing to even reach the centre of the road despite trying to push it

Turn the radar down otherwise you'll melt it before it arrives! |

You'd need one of your interplanetary fusion cannons to melt this lot! |

I'm still waiting for my boots to dry I'm not going to make the mistake of leaving them in the garrage again! |

When are you riding Chadders? I might be tempted, particularly before it gets dark. Although I'm not so sure about riding the nasty hill between me and Tilgate. |

I too have now got home to find all of my kit is still wet from Wenesday. Sorry guys. Oh and for those who want to know the snow is breaking up over Norfolk and will arrive in small amounts later. |

Baking soda? Are you sure? Won't that just make even more mess? They are currently in the airing cupboard which now smells and is full of sand  |

This idea seems to be quite effective - if you can scrounge lots of sachets from a shoe shop, you could make your own. |

Hiya, Baking powder helps to kill off the smell and soak up the moisture, I think we covered this in another thread... ![]() @Bob I like the comment in that link 'did you know you can replace a chain tool with a hammer and nail'...Id like to see anyone use that out on the trail...ffs Nick |

I was out in Tilgate today too - lots of fun and quite a few trails still had virgin snow on them. Shame so many paths are still blocked by all the felled trees. The dodgiest part of the ride was actually the footbridge over the railway line!

We used our good dead for the day to move a tree out of one of the paths - sorry we didn't get to the bit you were on! The railway bridge was a bit tricky - Mr Hopper managed an impressive skipping like action down the last couple of steps trying to pretent he wasn't really slipping or about to drop his bike. He also came off with a nice slide accross the club house car park..... I suspect there may be a reason why he hits the deck more often than me! We were hoping to kayak tomorrow but looking unlikely we'll get our car up hill off the drive so might bike instead
