America's Cartoon Network has revealed at Georgia's Anime Weekend Atlanta convention this morning that it will end its Toonami programming block tonight after 11 years. The official announcement will be made during tonight's final run, with an "important message" during the 10:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. ET/PT timeslot. Naruto has been the only Japanese series in this Saturday evening block recently, but Toonami used to host a variety of Japanese-animated programs when it began as a weekday afternoon block in 1997. Among those titles were Voltron, Robotech, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball, Ronin Warriors, G-Force: Guardians of Space, Blue Submarine No. 6, Tenchi Muyo!, Cardcaptors, Zoids, .hack//SIGN, Yu Yu Hakusho, Rurouni Kenshin, The Big O, Outlaw Star, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Cyborg 009, Duel Masters, Astro Boy, Gundam, Rave Master, Zatch Bell, One Piece, Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo, Pokémon, MÄR, The Prince of Tennis, Megaman Star Force, Bakugan Battle Brawlers, and Blue Dragon. The Toonami Jetstream online streaming service will reportedly still continue, and Cartoon Network is working to import the Japanese-animated Demashitaa! Powerpuff Girls Z spinoff that is based on its own Powerpuff Girls series.

Two episode of Naruto are currently scheduled for tonight at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The 2002 live-action Spider-Man film will run instead of Toonami on September 27, although most television listings have not been updated yet. Batman: Gotham Knight, this summer's Japanese-animated video tie-in to The Dark Knight film, will then run on October 4 at 8:00 p.m. After Batman: Gotham Knight, an episode of Naruto, "Powerful Helper," will run at 9:30 p.m., but there are no other episodes scheduled yet.

I cannot belive this! those jerks at cartoon network! they are horrible people and don't care about anything but money!! toonami was the best thing since sliced bread, suikoden and kya dark lineage!!!

cartoon network is slowly turning into a kiddie channel with all of the lame shows they have (no offence to anyone that likes a show on cartoon network, i like some of them too but not many), it used to be for everyone

they should just make an anime channel, becuase then everyone wins! i watch anime in english, cartoon network never shows anime again and i never watch cartoon network again!! :) what a fabulous idea!!!! :tyokay!:
as mama would say on the show mama's family, "Cartoon network sure has gone to hell in a handbasket!"

cartoon network sucks, i hate them they are idiots that don't care about thier fans.

wellph" i guess i'll have to go and buy some dvds at the store of anime shows(it's a good thing i know a place by me.)
Please tell me the answer, is fate unchangeble? even at his most powerless man's existence is never without meaning.
What was the start of all of this? When did the cogs of fate begin to turn? Perhaps it is impossible to grasp that answer now, from deep within the flow of time. But,for certainty, back then, We loved so many, yet we hated so much,we hurt others and were hurt ourselves.... Yet even then, we ran like the wind,Whilst our laughter echoed, under the cerulean skies...

Even if my computer was not having problems i probabally wouldn't have time to. there's only two anime's that are probabally in english since i know that two were just moved to a way too early time, i'm sure someone stayed pu to tape it on an emuator or something. well i'm going halloween shopping with my mother in a or too, maybe i can convince her to go to the video store that i noted earlier in the post.

Yeah i kow they put alot of bad shows on these days

Naruto had a good reason to move later though. As the shinobi, maybe I should say characters. As the characters became more mature, that started to speak more knowledable, and started to use more language as in, swears. So that was gone. One Piece disapeared because 4Kids took over and f*** it up, sorry for my language, i should be cancled. Thanks to FuniAnimation, they gained One Piece and made it alot better, so it comes on at night. But you can still find CNs anime late at night, mostly on Adult Swim. Taking away the anime was still a bad idea though.

Now those stupid reality shows come on, like BrainRush, a roller coaster gameshow, and Destroy Build Destroy, a wierd woodshop category type of thing, they destroy, build a vehicle, than the winner who won the race destroys the opposing teams creation.

When I die, I want to go peacefully like my Grandfather did, in his sleep -- not screaming, like the passengers in his car.

Cartoon networks stinks now that it doesn't have it's anime, i used to watch it all the time. but now i only watch the anime on AS. Now i watch alot of sitcoms like the nanny and george lopez and other funny shows like reno 911. and i have gotten into a lot of talk shows as well. and now i buy or borrow anime at the store/library. it's actually better that way cuase i can watch it as much as i want (unless borrowed from the library) and i get to watch anime that would never air on american tv.
